We are in a massive clump of about 15 teams who are all within a few points in the middle of the standings. Personally I think it will catch up with them as the points get a bit harder. As it is they are barely hanging on... but the great news is that this is fantastic experience for everyone. The vets are playing fantastic and the young guns are finding their way.

Basically points wise we are back where we started. Do you think we will play this well in the 2nd half? I don't, but prove me wrong baby!

They won't.. our schedule starts to get noticeably tougher.

After Chicago and the holidays we got - Florida, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and Dallas.

I share your opinion. My guess is that in a month nobody is talking about squeeking into the playoffs and the talk will be more and more about who we can trade at the deadline.
If the Habs are still in the playoff bubble, people will be talking more and more about which player(s) to traded ASAP to make them fall further.:sarcasm:

The one bright side I can see from all these stupid OT/SO wins and loser points is that it does show they are trying and competing. Mood and morale can change, but for those concerned about a loser mentality, how the kids are playing are far from it.

They’re going to lose a lot more as the schedule toughens up and they rid themselves of some players.

It should have been obvious last season that this year wouldn’t be a tanking year. They just have too much fight for it. I expect them to cool off a bit, but I was always expecting a pick in the 8-12 range this year. It’s just kind of weird that they are this successful without Dach who was lining up to becoming their best forward.

Oh they'll tank no worries, plenty of games with plenty of injuries which can still happen when you are over-taxing some players. They just don't have the depth on ice to compete like a playoff team.

WOW! 13th OT and we are only at the end of December? Those extra point are killing the tank lol.
It really is.

I saw before the season a chart that showed difficulties in team scheduling and we had one of the easiest. After Chicago we’ve got four in a row against good teams. My guess is that we’ll start to see some losses soon enough.

Of course I'd be absolutely delighted to see the habs get another top 10 pick, but I'd be surprised and disappointed if we finished in the bottom 10. This team is simply too good compared to the league basement, even without Dach.
Nah man… we’re so green. The talent’s there but it’s going to take some time. Guehle for example is a great young player to have but he’s still developing and nowhere near what he’ll be. Two key injuries and our star sniper can’t score right now. Goaltending has masked a lot of problems.

Slaf taking steps forward and putting him on the 1st line changed the team dynamic and Savard's return stabilized the Ds.

I love the sentiment on Dach but he played one game and a third this season.

I mean, who knows of his progress was a matter of short period of output or for real.

Anyway, I feel like you do; they show up to win every game and they do it while injured to the gills.

Keep in mind even if the "tank" portion of the rebuild is over after this year that doesn't mean never getting a top10 pick again. Lots of team have a random bad year for whatever reason. We've done it a few times ourselves where a bad year is sandwiched between several playoff years.

It's all about making the most of those years.

Folks here's just a reminder that your talentless, hardworking Canadiens have the LEAST number of regulation wins in the ENTIRE League. Talk about one ugly Cinderella story.

It is ugly as F*** and as a fan who wanted one more tank season, all these F***ing OT/SO wins and loser points is annoying as F***. Boy, I’m mad LOL!

But I will say it again, the one positive is they are working hard so for now anyways, I got zero concerns about a “loser mentality”.

With the growth in Slafs game, picking as high as we initially wanted may not be as paramount as it was looking.

If we end up with MBN and can attach him to Dachs hip. We will have something sexy.

How MBN compares to Heineman. Both seems to have similar package/upside.
