Yup... I hope Hughes takes this as the signal to start selling.

Time to off load whomever we can and use our cap room to take playoff focused teams cap dumps for further assets (& to have some vet presence in the lineup so that we aren't plugging holes with Roy/Farrell/Mailloux et. Let them cook in Laval)

At the minimum, I hope we see Monahan, Pearson and 1 of Allen/Primeau all moved in short order.

Rentals don't usually go until close to the deadline.

I wouldn't expect many moves any time soon

After last year, and the continuation of our injury collection, I'd hope Hughes is focused on getting the deals done rather than holding out for top value.

Zadorov went this week. Probably less than what Flames could have got if they waited it out, but better than getting zilch after an injury.

I'm sure there are offers on the table for Monahan. Time to pull the trigger imo.

With Newhook gone for 3 months, it's pretty much another lost year.

I guess I'm back on team tank. No where near enough depth in the organization to cover all of Dach, Newhook & RHP upfront.

Next year hopefully Roy is on the team. We get to look forward to Dach & Newhook coming back. Add another top 10 pick.

Move out Pearson & Monahan, and whoever else we can move.
We need that Caufield Suzuki Monahan line to click big time if we hope to get something decent for Sean.

It's unbelievable how we keep getting points lol. I do expect us to be bottom 5 sooner rather than later though.

That loser point was so worth it eh, putrid injury riddled team that keeps shooting itself in the foot in a lost season. 2 years in a row man, shit pisses me off.

Just **** off and start losing in regulation already.
1 point is better than 2. Could have been worse. We were taking it to the Wings.

But we're on our way down the standings...

But, Slaf and Ylonen are starting to step up... stay tunned...

I’m 42 and have switched from a 1 pt is better than 0pts perspective to a “tank at ALL COSTS!”

Which I'd say is exactly what Hughes & Co. have been doing since day 1... Managing assets with a net focus to increase the talent base with top line/top pair ceilings.

Dach, Newhook, Barron in the first ~18 months (& Heineman, though injuries have derailed him).

I would bet that over the next 8-10 months we'll see at least 2-3 more additions in that vein (20-23 year olds, high talent w/o big pro succes that are ready for shot at bigger role)

Add that to the draft & development focus that has already added Slaf, Hutson, Beck, Mesar, RB, Engstrom, Konyushkov, Fowler et. & seen Roy, Mailloux, Strubble, Trudeau, Kidney, Farrell et. make solid pro debuts...

Future is bright 😎
Imo a true contender build starts (and ends) with depth. The more depth we have the stronger every single one of them gets as they start to feed off one another..

Hugo has identified quite clearly what he is building.. the reason we keep getting pts in lieu of the growing IR is because a system is starting to take form. Players are becoming interchangeable, up and down the lineup..

Ive said this before, but hugo is reminding me of the Pete Carroll & john Schneider Seahawk duo..

This year's tank has been harder for me than the past two. There was a moment tonight where Suzuki went cross seam to Caufield and Caufield fumbled it. That was the most exciting routine play the last two years but I don't think it's worked once yet this year. After the fumble I played on my phone the rest of the game instead of paying attention.

I think all the injuries, the never ending contracts of some pretty low quality players, and the unproven results of our last two tanks are weighing me down too. I cannot for the life of me figure out how there are 9 teams worse than the Canadiens. Just really hope this year's tank translates into some exciting offensive talent somehow.

The ice seemed bad to me tonight. The puck seemed to be fumbling accross the ice most of the night...

I'm watching for the positives from the young players this year. I liked Ylonen, Slaf, and Struble tonight...

We really came on in the third. Very good character to do that with the lineup we're icing.

Maybe I'll go back and watch the third tomorrow night and actually pay attention.

There's no way without Dach and Newhook this team can produce enough offense.

We will grab our crown jewel forward this year.
Or trade for one. If we are drafting around 12th? Trade it for a first liner. Suzuki and Caufield be stars if they had high end linemate

Not a big fan of our young player getting injure. It is a important year for Dach and Newhook. Beside Savard, the vet are healthy this year.

Even with all the injuries, the fact we're still in front of Buffalo at this point is baffling.

What a pathetic franchise. Leave us tank alone.

We were actually lower in points than we were this time last year..

I don't think we need to hand wring about the tank this year. Every year, the better teams get better as the season goes along and the Habs continue to get more and more injured and unable to elevate their game up with the rest of the league.

We will fall down into the bottom 6 of the league and we will be well within striking distance of a top line forward in this draft.

I have 0 concerns.

I think it's a hard year because we're not seeing many signs of life.

Dach was going to have a breakout, but he's out for the season.

Newhook was breaking out, but he's out.

Xhekaj is out.

Caulfield is on track for 24 goals, where people were expecting him to be a DeBrincat-type player and score 40.

Suzuki is topping out as a 1B/2A center.

Slafkovsky gets celebrated every time he touches the puck.

Reinbacher and Engstrom, no signs of progress.

Roy, Farrell, Kidney are having Hudon/Andrighetto type seasons on a horribly bad AHL team.

Allen, Anderson, Pearson, Monahan, Dvorak, etc are unlikely to yield the trade value we hoped.

And the team is tracking to acquire another bust at 11th overall.

The bright spots are Mesar, Beck, Hutson, Struble, and Montembeault.

I'm being a bit melodramatic, but it's hard to be excited given this level of struggle.

I wouldn't even call Mesar an excitement either. He's just kidney but a year younger. He wasn't great at fighting for space in his pre season or two AHL games so he's going to have a rough transition. Beck is a third liner. So really the only exciting thing we have is Huston's potential.

We are going to sink in the standings though, we're running out of gas and it's only December.

We're still out of the bottom 10 at this point in PTS/game.

This is unacceptable.

I really like this year top 10-12, but it falls off pretty quick after that. We need a top 10 pick bad in this draft.

I'm not worry about the tank. I'm more worry about us breaking the injury record again.....

How we keep getting this much injury. Is this a trend we have to worry in the future? :eek3:
