Keep in mind, this team should take a significant step backwards at the deadline: offloading Monahan and Pearson (at minimum) would already gut this team.

And who knows, this might be the year they sell high on Anderson too.

My perspective this year (the Dach injury hurts)

Just get in the conversation; be it 2nd-9th worst in the league and hope to get some lottery luck but the other part will be having enough good play from the guys we want to trade so that we have an extra 1st, etc.

Let them have a couple swings at the baseball for the fences.

Just losing Monahan (with Dach already gone) would destroy this team. It's a frail lineup with one other big piece sliding out and the whole pyramid crashing down.

We need Monahan to stay healthy for a trade return this time around.

I'd be happy if Jake Allen played down to his ability

Good luck with that!

Just like last year, the same people delighting in the useless wins will be miserable on June 25th.
Nah... Whiners find something to whine about all the time.

People who get what the team is trying to build appreciate the positive results and generally get that the lottery is a lottery

More like official Playoffs thread, right?
Careful, you might run into some pitchforks with that kind of heresy

Enlighten me oh wise one because far as my meagre eyes can see, teams that draft elite talent high win cups. Last I checked, the Habs have none and are as thin offensively as can be imagined.

But please, enjoy wins courtesy of Armia, Gallagher, Pearson, Monahan and Matheson and bunch of mediocre tweener youngsters (excluding CC, Suzuki, Dach, Slaf, Guhle and Barron) with the hope that it'll all magically work out to a cup.

People should hope they start losing soon because without more elite talent this core won't be competing for shit, useless wins and perpetual no man's land after a botched rebuild won't cut it for me.

They had a chance to get elite talent in Michkov and they got another D. Because... you can never have too many defensemen. So with this management group, even finishing low doesn't mean they'll get any kind of talent.

As if Reinbacher isn’t talented lol…

You’re gonna be pretty happy having him if we end up with a Catton/Demidov (or lottery pick) in 2024. Defense set for a long time and a dynamic elite forward.

yea maybe with all the losses we pile up we can draft high like first or top 3 and get another slaf or KK

You raise a very good point.

We're forever doomed.

Just enjoy the games, as they are all we have.

Happy when they win, indifferent when they lose. I can't be disappointed.

They have a winning record despite the 1st overall underperforming. Seems to me the "rebuild" is working to some extent.

Whiners gonna whine.

Easy to sit in the peanut gallery and complain insesantly... Be nice if there was at least some humour or wit, but that's a bridge too far for some.

I will enjoy, thanks. After years of terrible leadership and rudderless direction, it's fun to see tangible progress, I'm sorry you can't seem to enjoy it, that must suck.

Future is bright 😎

Get outshot by a 2:1 ratio and win on solid goaltending and clutch opportune goals.

If this is the rebuild going well, we're screwed.
Perhaps you missed the general concencus that the Habs were icing a bottom 5 roster this season?

Sitting in 5th overall 1/10 of the season in despite already major injuries to top 6 & top 4 players on a roster thin on today talent is pretty impressive... However said wins are achieved.

Weird to complain about that :dunno:
