That's misleading.... im happy with the kids playing, scoring and improving... im also happy with us finishing dead last.
Both can be true.
What i get no enjoyment from is when deadend vets score to give us a win. When dead end vets play instead of the kids... why? Why not give the kids all the icetime.. why not develop them with every opportunity on NHL ice, pp, last 4 minutes of tight game, etc... what does playing win hungry (contract) vets at the cost of the kids contribute exactly?
Is that really teaching the kids "how to win"? Bs. This new generation does not (and will not) respond to old school systems.. they need constant reassurance, they need achievable goals, one step at a time..
Is there some law in the NHL a team must play vets? Would people stop going to games? Not in MTL, infact i would pay money to watch all our youth.. no one older than suzuki, play their hearts out every night.... theyd still end up dead last, highly entertaining games, but would get a few winstreaks in there... build comraderie and yes... confidence..
Can you imagine a kid team, playing their hearts out, with full support from fans, and 0 win expectations... thats how the new generation would benefit..
Like that u23 team at the world cup... i was all in on them, amazing.
