What’s the alternative option tho? We have no way to not finish at the bottom standings. The team was burnt to the ground and is still nowhere near close to being cleaned up.

There's weirdest things happening most season.....one thing for sure tho, it's not after 4 games and seeing the Habs 3rd in their division in P% that we should all be doom and gloom, there's plenty of time to get to that stage which should happen in the very near future, just not yet!

Let the kids play and let see what they have in them!

I agree with the kids statements but we saw this last year. Teams will tighten up and crush us eventually unless something drastic happens. I give our new coaching staff credit, they seem to have our teams ready to go out of training camp which is positive.

Yeah those two wins against great teams like Chicago and Washington sure gave me confidence. Sunshine and lollypops!

Those 2 wins are better than 2 losses, right?

Point being, it's way too early to be all that negative, or positive. I know some people enjoyed it, they are waiting for every opportunity to be negative......but we're playing game #5 tomorrow,

There's only ONE game we were really out of it.....one out of four.....it's not all sunshine and lollypops but there's also a middle ground between that and questioning everything and being doom and gloom about everything after 4 freaking game.

That's misleading.... im happy with the kids playing, scoring and improving... im also happy with us finishing dead last.
Both can be true.

What i get no enjoyment from is when deadend vets score to give us a win. When dead end vets play instead of the kids... why? Why not give the kids all the icetime.. why not develop them with every opportunity on NHL ice, pp, last 4 minutes of tight game, etc... what does playing win hungry (contract) vets at the cost of the kids contribute exactly?

Is that really teaching the kids "how to win"? Bs. This new generation does not (and will not) respond to old school systems.. they need constant reassurance, they need achievable goals, one step at a time..

Is there some law in the NHL a team must play vets? Would people stop going to games? Not in MTL, infact i would pay money to watch all our youth.. no one older than suzuki, play their hearts out every night.... theyd still end up dead last, highly entertaining games, but would get a few winstreaks in there... build comraderie and yes... confidence..

Can you imagine a kid team, playing their hearts out, with full support from fans, and 0 win expectations... thats how the new generation would benefit..

Like that u23 team at the world cup... i was all in on them, amazing.

This is actually what we're witnessing right now., no?
Newhook, Slafkovsky, RHP, Caufield and Suzuki have more ice-time than Gallagher or Pearson.

It's not NHL24 where you can just erase some players on your roster, some will stay but I don't see any vets being overplayed, other than those performing or those we need to move.

And after 4 games, we should be focus on the kids performing.....not finishing deadlast, that part we can talk after 25-30 games.

With our luck, we'll finish dead last, lose the lottery, pick 3rd and select D Adam Jiricek (ranked 9th)..
And not trade back, bc word on the street was ARZ liked him too.

Nashville stopped trying to trade up the minute that Reinbacher was off the board.

I know people don't want to believe this because it doesn't fit the narrative or the terribly unfunny jokes.. but NHL teams and scouts were very high on Reinbacher. It was well documented noise coming from the combine that if Montreal wanted to trade abck from 5, they'd get a lot of calls, and it wouldn't be from teams trying to move up to get Michkov, it would be teams try to secure Reinbacher.

Reinbacher was highly coveted and for many good reasons.

Add to not Preds from their genesis have been exceptional at identifying D prospects… it’s in their DNA

Sigh, what couldve been. Thats literally such a strong top 6 lol, provided they all become what i think they can. Slaf KK Dach can play physical with the best of them and Joshy, Nick and Cole could rival any skilled big three /Edmontons.

I hate looking back, but yeah, still having KK in the mix would be sweet. I hated losing him.

The last managers had a superstar (Carey Price) and leaned on him for all their results and did little else to improve the roster. The current managers have no superstar to lean on and have done little else to improve the roster or acquire a superstar (which is admittedly, near-impossible but made even more impossible when you make bizarre draft day decisions). You don't need a superstar to win the Cup and you aren't guaranteed to win with a superstar, so I guess we just have to wait until HuGo acquire sufficient depth of merely very very good players. Any day now.
It sure as heck makes it more fun to watch if there is a superstar in tow while waiting for the rest of the pieces to align. We’re still in the entertainment business as we hope for that contending team.

Of course, easier said than done to land that superstar but I believe it begins with poaching the best scouts money can buy and to churn over those stinking leftovers from the failed prior administration.

Are we getting 1 point out of this B2B? I'm not optimistic about tomorrow's game so it would have to be tonight.

Anyone with a fauxhawk should've been fired months ago. I've been saying this.

No need to call Roy up, NONE.

Not even one reason to call him up either.

Laval is where he needs to be, we are tanking for Macklin Celebrini anyways.

well I think SJ is going to be dead last, so we are looking at 2nd, 3rd pre lottery. yeah, I get we hae immovable contracts, and a lot of dead weight.. But let's take Armia for example.. why not keep him in the AHL? if anything real NHL vets (the ones we have) should be part of our development team, the highest paid players in the AHL by a long shot. Not a bad life style at all. Laval should be our B team, not the "farm" team (semantics i know) but the guys on our AHL roster should feel part of the the Habs (team). like why do we call them Laval Rocket? why not the Laval Canadiens?

For Armia it's pretty simple, he's there to replace Pezzetta who was in the press box, something he has experience for. Other kids need to play.

This squad is really missing Sergeant First Class Drouin and Commander Hoffman

LT Galllagher is going to have a tough time getting this Tank rolling again

Hoffman is really lighting up the scorebord with SJ. One assist in 7 games. Coincidentally the same stats as Drouin.
