...

and then the entire stack will get injured.

I wanted to fire him since last season... I think now that Caufield has been ressuracted, MSL's server his purpose and I don't feel like he has anything else to offer. The team is as disorganized as they come.
Must have been one heck of a PC lol

Couldn't disagree with you more on MSL.

I love that we have a players coach. But to take the next step we will definitely need some strategic minds. All those penalties are due to a lack of a system.

I would consider pushing back our window if Suzuki doesn't hit 80 pts this year. If he has another 60ish pts, we are going to have to trade him for youth. 2019 draftees and younger.... not until we pick a #1C will we have any chance at anything, it's moot.. Dach cannot be counted on, poor kid but if Im Hugo I ship him out next year at the TDL..
Love Suzuki and he's most likely a lock on the Habs for years to come, but I've been flirting more and more with the idea of trading him for a better player.

Suzuki+ for Petterson would be sweet. Not sure what else we'd have to add but that's a good starting piece

That seems like a dubious statement, do you have anything to back that up?

Looking quickly, in the past 10 years (14-15 to 23-24) we've been a net positive in penalties drawn vs taken once, in 2015-2016. Hard to really blame MSL on this even though yes his numbers are worse.

Price and Therrien's obsession with defense. We were chipping pucks out our end all the time vs trying to carry it out. Price was awesome yes but we also played a structure in front of him to keep pucks to the outside. It worked to some degree.
Price was perhaps the greatest goalie of all time using his stick to control the puck, if not top-3 w Marty Turco & Brodeur. Opposing teams were afraid to dump it in, knowing there was high probability of Habs taking possession & its also why those teams were strong transition teams

Next year should be fun. 2024 top 3 pick, Reinbacher, Mailloux, Roy, Dach and a free agent will all be added to the roster. And that's without accounting for any trades Hughes will make.
I'm not 100% sure Reinbacher make it to the NHL in 24. Not with Mailloux and Barron pushing for a spot with the Habs. Maybe in 25. i can see him playing in the AHL next year.

Reinbacher and Hutson could be a great duo in Laval.

The Sens killed the 2020 draft (Stutzle and Sanderson). It will set them up for years.
Dorion & Benning though mediocre at pro player moves were both exceptional at their strength / backgrounds … amateur drafting

To be fair, that's a result of injuries.

Players are being shoved left and right, center to wing, wing to center, new linesmates every 2-3 games......all that with unexperienced kids.

Will look disorganized when you have major holes blowing off every 2 games.

The lottery ruins the season for fans of teams that aren't going to make the playoffs. Once they are out of contention might as well find something else to do because there is no point cheering for the tank. Finish last, lose the lottery, and get some worthless bum with your pick.

I don't know i see him in the pros. He didn't look out of place in preseason, very calm, anticipates the play well..shows he plays with pros in Europe. But who knows..

Considering the Swiss league is arguably better talent-wise than the AHL, I’d be very unpleasantly surprise if Reinbacher ends up in Laval rather than Montreal when he’ll cross the Atlantic for good, hopefully as soon as 2024-2025.

As for Hutson, he seems eager to become a professional and I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up playing a few games in Montreal at the end of this year actually. Not unlike fellow NCAA alumni Farrell however, physical maturity might become an issue and warrant AHL time in 2024-2025, but then again, Hutson is a special player and might not need such transition.

In any event, integrating Hutson and Reinbacher to the core will likely require trading a young D during offseason 2024 or 2025, as well as trading Savard at the latest by TDL 2025.

Prospective 2025-2026 D-corps :

Matheson (Expiring UFA) - Reinbacher (ELC)
Guhle (RFA) - Mailloux (ELC) or Barron (RFA)
Hutson (ELC) - Xhekaj (RFA)
Kovacevic (If renewed after 2025)

Is very rare to see Dman play in the NHL at 19. He also lack experience in playing in NA arena. He will be competing with a 21 years old Mailloux and 22 years old Barron for a spot. We also have Harris and Kovacevic in the bottom 4. You can also add Norlinder and Struble to the competition.

We don't have much place for him next year. He will need to a have a good season and the Habs will need to trade multiple D to make room for him.

If both Barron and Mailloux outplay him at camp, I guess it’s indeed only fair that Reinbacher starts the year in Laval - until the Habs sell Savard at TDL 2025 at least.

That’s basically the only scenario I see that could justified Reinbacher starting the season in Laval; but I concede it could very well be the optimal one, since it’d would entail that both Barron and Mailloux earned regular NHL status - and that with Reinbacher not be far behind, the RHD side’s future would look quite less murky.

Why would Vancouver even want to trade Petterson to begin with. Also trading our roster just to get him would put us in the same exact spot.

I don't think canucks want to trade him but sounds like Petterson isn't making any promises until after he sees the season play out. So we'll see

Petterson is a big upgrade on suzuki. Still have Dach at 2C if he ever makes it back alive. That's a crazy 1-2 center punch

The cost would be too much to be honest , it would cost us more than the worth :|

Im willing to give Marty time until he gets some players, but I hope they get some tacticians as assistants, seems like they have 3 of the same coaches

They need to fire the uselessness that is Letowski and Burrows.

Robidas has been great with the young defenseman, so he deserves to stay.

Bring in some experience, some tacticians, and some people who know how to coach a f***ing PP.

Considering the Swiss league is arguably better talent-wise than the AHL,

I highly doubt that. The AHL is filled with ex-NHLers, career AHLers, NHLer hopefuls and talented NHL prospects. NL isn't arguably better. It's a full notch under. Its top 20 has a few NHLers, but those are players nearing 40 years old, like Fillipula, Winnik and Desharnais. The rest have a lot less NHL experience and most are AHLer rejects who had much higher scoring in the NL than they did in the AHL. In fact the vast majority, outside NHL expats, have a better career PPG in the NL than they do in the AHL. If the NL became better in the last few years, you'd see their best players having lower PPG, which did not happen, in fact its leading scorer last year, Cervenca had his best ppg season, last season.

Yeah the NL is close to the SHL, Liiga and KHL, but not the AHL.
