Obviously a good drafting position doesn't mean your team will draft the right guy. But it means that the "right guy" is avalaible to draft. With a worse position that "right guy" might not be avalaible. I should not have to explain that to adults honestly.

And sometimes your team would have picked the wrong guy if another team didn't take him first. We almost had Pouliot instead of Price.

Ofc we want the highest pick possible but regardless we have to trust the scouts to get it right.

That's a drafting team problem not a position in the draft problem. Change the drafting team if it's not good.

Nah it’s more about how RHP does absolutely nothing all year and then chooses that game to show up. Or Jake Evans who habitually makes bad offensive plays and then decides to have the offensive game of his life. Or Marty scanning the tablet hard after every goal against to find a reason to overturn it. Just mail it in, it’s over.

You do realize that if RHP had shown up more often this year, the habs would be in a less good drafting position? You should be glad he hasn't shown up more often...

I can more easily accept if he shows up earlier in the season. Then I would think it’s not just some facade like it was last year.

What you have to explain is how drafting 6th or 7th instead of 5th means the tank is ruined which is something we see throughout the thread and what my original post was talking about.

You're trying to be rational about it, but bottom line a lot of people are just prone to worrying.

None of us know if the Habs will get the player that best fits them, we can hope for the best, analyze what is to come, and accept that the randomness is fair.

I think that RHP is a guy who can be a contributor if he plays on one of the worst teams in the league, he's kind of like David Desharnais.

It finally ends tonight. I think we're in for one of the most exciting off-seasons in recent history.

Off seasons are the best part of rebuilds. I'm very much looking forward to the draft and see what Hughes has in store for us. I don't see him going to the UFA market for too much, but the trade possibilities are intriguing.

Gotta play games for that to happen. RHP's style will probably end up getting him dinged again next season.
He has to play that way all the time or he won't play.

Kotkaniemi over Tkachuk and Galchenyuk over Forsberg says different.

Having the better pick let you draft the guy you want.....What so hard to understand?

How about Arizona wanted to draft Reinbacher in the 2023 draft? Or the devil wanting to draft Slaf at #2?

Also Forsberg has drafter at #11.... We could have end up with G Reinhart. Galchy has not a bad pick. The people around him has the real problem.

Pretty sure our Gm would have drafted Will Smith if he has available at #5.

Having the better let THEM draft who THEY want.......not who we want, that much should be clear by now. And drafting a little lower doesn't mean they won't get their guy either, and it won't mean it will be a lesser player either.

Our list is not their list.

Lol @ those post saying it's the last game you wish for a loss.

You will be on board next season as well after it becomes clear we aren't making the playoffs.
Oh pretty much, next season Free Agents TDL baits:
  • Christian Dvorak
  • Joel Armia
  • Jake Evans
  • Rafael Harvey-Pinard
  • Michael Pezzetta
  • David Savard
  • Jordan Harris
  • Jonathan Kovacevic
With only 1 year left:
  • Mike Matheson
It's far more than this year and most of them aren't in any longer termed plans.

What's so hard to understand that whether it's 5 or 7 there will be star players available and it's really a question of scouting & development more then it is one or two draft positions?

we are going to be just as bad next year. We may score more, but our blueline is young and prone, and sus goaltending. Plus the injury thing, never seems to end.
