I am in no way defending Dustin Schwartz. He is an abysmal failure as a goalie coach with the Oilers. As for being a pathetic human being, I don’t think that’s the case but I won’t even get involved in that discussion with you.

But, you do not have to have had an NHL career to even remotely qualify you to be a successful goalie coach. Mitch Korn, the Allaire brothers all parlayed a keen sense of how to use a combination of the team’s and the goalie’s strengths/weaknesses; knowledge of solid position fundamentals to develop a number of quality players at the position.

The problem with Schwartz is his CV indicates he can’t do this - multiple management structures where he has failed with the same middling results, a number of goalies he’s worked with and the same middling results.

This failure is on management to not assess the outputs of the coach and act accordingly. Who knows, maybe under a different coach Stu looks, plays and has different results. (I’m stretching there but trying to find a positive).
Exactly! All for giving local talent a chance and before he got with the Oilers he coached in Spruce Grove and for the Oil Kings but its hard to say he made any impact beyond being a nice guy or something (whatever he brings to the table) but the fact that he has been around for so long and that players like Nuge have gone through so many coaches due to dumb GMs not addressing the key issues on the team for the 19th year in the row but getting bandaids (Ekholm for defense and we got extra "offense" in Arvy and J Skinner but look how much that helps) and hoping the win loss ratio isn't so crap by the middle of November or "well we had to let the coach go because idk what his problem was he should have made this team amazing, we made the finals you know?".

Doesn't cover up the fact that we have used up the talents of D Schwartz and we could have hired anyone else that is excited for a job in the NHL but this guy has been signed here longer than some Oilers draftees careers have lasted for (rip Poolparty and Yamamoto and more).

They actually fired Schwartz years ago but no one ever actually told him. Then during the last forensic audit it was discovered through a glitch in payroll, he was still getting paid the last several years. They fixed the payroll situation but now instead of asking him to return the money, they’re making him work for free. It’ll balance out eventually.

Kind of like what happened to this guy :D:

Elon should send him an email asking him what he accomplished last week.

The problem with trading for another goalie like Gibson, is what happens when Schwartz gets a hold of him? Does he then suck? There's a risk making trades because the goalie coach is so bad.
I mean players put us on their no trade list for a reason! Either due to hearing about the coaching staff or the culture of hockey here being "yeah we got to the finals babyyyy" and with a team on the ice that hasn't produced a good home game in what seems like ages and with a depth F and D core that seems okay on paper but in the end spells disaster for the playoffs against stronger teams with way more hustle than what some of our top PAID players are PAID to do but they settled for "why play short game when long game on ice good?" to pump their TOI up to demand more money like how Nurse swindled whats his face due to Seth Jones getting paid and apparently we couldn't fathom offer sheeting the guy for a few days of free agency to test if anyone really wanted him (doubt it) so we weren't going to lose him for free and plus now his monster contract is a nightmare everyday. We need short term rental players added by the deadline 100% and a compliance buyout would be cool for each team around the league.
So yeah we can get Gibson but we really should be trying to get a guy like Freddie Anderson 2.46 GAA & .914 save % in the playoffs versus Stu's 2.83 GAA & .894 save % (so far and honestly we threw him to the wolves cause Campbell sucked so hard) and a real goalie who even played for Toronto with Hyman would be a perfect fit (besides injury scares I guess) but he is on the last year of a $3,400,000 contract so honestly not breaking the bank to get him over Gibson.
