Bloodline doesn't matter. But Tij Iginla is legitimately a very good prospect.

It's not hapenning. The offers wont be good enough. I could see this happen only if we would draft 13th or something like that but there's not enough games left for that. KH is not trading a prospect like Iginla for a middling 50-55 points guy and that's what he'll get as offers. He's not MB.
We traded the 13th overall for a guy that has 40 pts total in 2 years. So Hughes performance on trading those 1st rounders is far from decent.

Did you even read my post? I said for it to happen we would need to fall to this rank but it's not happening. We are almost guaranteed a top 10 at this point and i don't see KH tarding a top 10.

Also Dach was a 20 years old guy drafted 3rd overall (unicorn type of player). It was lightning in a bottle this type of trade it never happens and it was also a 13th overall pick not a top 10 pick. Who will be avalaible at 6-10 will be a better prospect than Nazar was and you wont get offered a 20 years old unicorn drafted 3rd overall again.

Zegras? That’s what I’m thinking.

MB would not trade a top ten 10 pick either for a 55 pt. player. The one thing that MB was relatively competent at was trades. Also, this is not the NFL or NBA. NHL teams rarely, if ever, trade top ten picks prior to the draft.

They're not trading a top 10 pick for Zegras.

Yeah, they've been terrible since ASB. Only Chicago & SJS have been worse. They may be a top 5 drafting team next year. I expect Montreal to be in 10-20 range.
I'm hoping by some miracle Iginla and Conroy have that win because we're winners mentality and don't go into a rebuild over the summer.

We'll see what they end up doing. But even if they try to ice a competitive team, they may not be able to salvage the mess Trevling left.

Sergachev for Drouin was basically that, we traded a guy 1 year removed from being drafted top-10 for a guy whose best season with us was 53 points.

I don’t think it’s out of the question for CBJ to offer up Kent Johnson (5OA) for a top-10 pick

oh bloodlines can matter, we had this debate when people wanted KK over Brady, because they said bloodlines didn't mean shit. It matters, people gotta stop bringing up the Brent Gretzky comparisons and let it go. It's an intangible that can be measured.

If I'm picking between those two kids, It's not even close which one I draft.

Just notice we are still 6th, everything's fine
There seems to be more angst in the tank thread recently than last season where a bottom 4 was imperative.
We see the same assumptions based on schedule that we did last season.
The only teams who will be pushing are those who can move up the standings.
Even that isn't a given as the 2-7-1 Panthers are proving.

I think I mentioned this earlier I'd prefer to spell players now vs later.
This time of year is actually a pre-season of sorts for a number of clubs.
NHL hockey teams ramp up their play in the last couple of games before the season starts.
That some teams use this same approach for the post season shouldn't surprise anyone.

There is absolutely no predictability as to what the placeholders are going to do.

I feel it doesn’t change much at this point if we finish 5th or 7th last. 2% more at the top pick, that aside BPA will probably be a D at 5th and KH might reach for a forward that would be available at 7th anyway. 7th might make it easier.

Dach missed almost the entire 20-21 season due to wrist injury. Came back and reaggravated it and that was it for the year.
21-22 saw him play the most game in his pro career but still ended his season a few games earlier due to a shoulder injury.
Injuries were part of the reason why he was available in the first place. Far from a unicorn type of player. The potential was interesting which is why Hughes traded for him but the red flags were plenty as well.

When Dach comes back next year you'll eat these words

I'd love to.
I am just being realistic.. 5 years into his NHL career, 2 full missed seasons and never played more than 70 games. 212 games played out of a possible 410. That's 52%.

Early candidate for worst post of the year

Just stating facts. Not sure how that is worst post of the year but ok.

There’s no way to have predicted what happened to him. Great trade, wrong result - so far.
There were some indications. He missed parts of 2 junior seasons. Injured at WJC on a nothing play. His brother has an even worse injury history. It was worth the risk though. Another injury and I would forget about him as part of the nucleus and just pencil him as a part time player.

Are Crosby and Barkov "part time players"? They've been injured a lot in their career...

I mean all of these are freak injuries, if it was always a knee, or a shoulder or a wrist I'd agree but

WJC - Wrist Break
Last year - shoulder Tear
This year - ACL/MCL injury.

That points moreso to bad luck then to an injury prone player. I'll concede i'm a huge Dach-Stan and was more excited to watch him this year then any other player, but I think when he comes back next year he'll be a force
