HF Habs: The official 2023-2024 tank thread

Well, our win ties us with Ottawa again, but they hold the tie breaker, so we're still 6th. We move 3 pts up on Arizona with same gp. With only 8 games left, it's highly unlikely Coyotes pass Montreal now.

Montreal will be 3 pts back of Calgary with same gp since it looks like they'll lose to Ducks. Flames still have another game against Anaheim, 2 against SJS and one against Arizona.

The 6th - 7th spots will likely come down to the Ottawa game on the 13th.

I not only fear Calgary will out tank us this year, but that the way they're finishing this year will mean they'll go full rebuild next year. And if their pick is bottom 10 next year, then we get Florida's shitty 25th or worse 1st. A real shame what's happening to our 1st and the Jets 1st this year and Calgary's 1st next year.

But after each night the multiple tanks we have going look different. Hopefully tomorrow and other nights go better... 5th is still in play for our pick this year, 19th for the Jets, and 11th for the flames pick next year until the fat lady has sung....

This week will effectively end our chances of getting Demidov.

No question about it, I am ready to get hurt again.

We missed out on Bedard Fantili and Leo ,

Missing out on Demidov is childs play , as if anybody thought we were gonna draft top 3 anyways.

And anyways people on here swear that HuGo is gonna build a competitive top 6 without the need for a superstar player ,everything is going according to plan

If Carolina Hurricanes are the bunch of jerks, Montreal should be called the bunch of idiots. WTF are they doing? now they decided to play with intent and some sort of purpose? why save it for the last few games of the year and lower yet again the draft odds. lol

We're definitely not getting Calgary's pick. I think they'll trade Markstrom at the draft & go with Wolf next year, and tank. I'm already expecting Florida's pick again.

We'll see what Panthers do this summer. They have a ton of cap space, $21m, but also only 12 players signed. They only have Ekblad & Forsling as top 4D signed past this year, and only 6 forwards.

A small difference of 5 wins (10 pts) probably puts them in the 19/20 range.

Don’t be surprised if he trades the first pick. Of course it depends where they land, but I could see it happening. If they can get an established guy in his early 20’s, I think they’d do it.

Now we will make the mistake at taking Catton with like the 7-9th pick, a player i've come to dislike very much the last 3 games. Ugh. At least at 5 you have more choices. Maybe Kent can swing something and move up, we need a stud this year
I'd rather Catton then Helenius or Eiserman it's a toss up with Iginla

Cause it's easier when the other teams don't care anymore. All the teams already qualified for a playoff spot are expected to go easy on gas until the playoffs. Why you think Galchenyuk scored 30 with us? Cause we didn't make it ah.

So that's why Montreal fans should not get all giddy about Suzuki and Slafskovskys late season accomplishment then right,? better send a memo to all the fans afflicted. lol

Suzuki & Slafkovsky are not Galchenyuk. We're winning because they're pushing us over. Galchenyuk may have scored 30, but we were still absolute shit.

If you can't get excited about the development of Slafkovsky & Suzuki over the course of the last 2 years (not this supposed end of season teams are just not playing us hard run, but 2 years!) then you might already be dead inside.

Slafkovsky was a physical beast last night & Suzuki is just a smart, smart player.

Demidov is better than Michkov who everyone cried about. He's also not gonna go top 3, there was a chance at pick 6, but won't be there ar 7-9 which is where we are going now.

It's sad but at least it's because of the future that we are beating these clubs we shouldn't beat. Slafkovsky looks and projects a lot different than he did during last year. He's a stud.

What's that say about this team, statistically wise they are even worse. As for the rest of what you said, I hope you realize you're talking to to the wrong person.

at least Iginla has the bloodline , always go with that. Catton was so bad again last night. Not noticeable one game thus far. I'm hoping Lindstrom falls to Montreal, but the idiots keep winning so that won't happen

Bloodline doesn't matter. But Tij Iginla is legitimately a very good prospect.

It's not hapenning. The offers wont be good enough. I could see this happen only if we would draft 13th or something like that but there's not enough games left for that. KH is not trading a prospect like Iginla for a middling 50-55 points guy and that's what he'll get as offers. He's not MB.

We are pace for 77.5 points, so all Calgary needs is to go 2-5-1 which is basically a continuation of their current poor performance. Also worth noting that they have a game against Arizona on the 14th so either Calgary wins meaning they only need to go 1-5-1 in the other 7 or Arizona wins and gets within 1 point of us but we'd have a game in hand.
