Its too late for scorched earth anyways ,I think the tank is dead next year. Should have put an absolute shitter in nets for the past two year , Monty probably ended up better than we thought. Unfortunate to say the least.

Oh well we move on and pray for good drafting and smart moves I guess, won't be getting any free superstar ppg players from the tank , it is what it is. (I'm trying to jinx this years lottery)

To be fair, we got an extended and far more effective tank than we deserved due to ridiculous injury luck.

Scorched Earth strategies were supported by teams like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay, and Washington that built significant parts of their rosters prior to the 2015 lottery rule change. It's no longer relevant.

IMO Hughes should try and progress next year. Getting rid of Allen and keeping Savard were good first steps in that regard.

...But half of those weren't even "scorched earth strategies". They were bad teams that didn't make moves to actively improve in the present.

I'm not sure what "scorched earth" advocates wanted. Trade Suzuki and Caufield? The Habs finished dead last in 2022, they finished 5th last in 2023 and the only team who finished worse than them that actually went scorched earth was Chicago (who needed lottery luck to get Bedard). They're 7th worst right now with a decent chance to drop to 5th worst again.

Go booins!

I'm also heavily rooting for the Stars to win their division. Our other 1st is Winnipeg's, and our only 2nd is Colorado's. If the Stars win the division and Winnipeg and Colorado don't make the conference finals, that helps our other 1st and our 2nd a lot!

The more I read about this draft the more I am under the impression that 2-10 spots are interchangeable. No real point in the tank except the few additional % chances to get Celibrini.

We definitely finish in the bottom 3 with Jack Allen as our # 1 goalie. No one saw Monty become our # 1 goalie. We got him for free.

Pretty sure, we could get a low first round or second pick for Monty right now.

Your not wrong it's pretty even after #1 but that doesn't mean they are itnerchangeable for any specific team. Like even if Lindstrom and Dickenson are interchangeable in terms of overall BPA rankings, we would have a clear preference for Lindstrom.

But at the end of the day I fully expect a great forward to be available, and I wouldn't even rule out Hughes trading one of our D prospects for a forward which opens up a hole on D that can then get filled by drafting a D.

I don't know about Lindstrom. Cosentino has him ranked 10th. I am sure though that the Habs have preferred player (s) at the top of the draft though.

Have to wait until the final rankings come out they will jump around some based on post season play.
NA players being more affected and CHL players specifically.
