Well Pittsburgh suck... I can see Crosby asking for a trade in the summer. Buffalo doing what it do best. Getting a little bit hot at the end of season.
I just hope Pitts don't win the lottery. They are already the luckiest team in the league.
And I can see him getting traded to Montreal...

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the Yotes find a way to lose to the worst team in the league tonight just to troll us. It’s what they do.
We’re going to do it to ourselves. Just see who MSL chooses to start over the rest of the season in what are meaningless games.

We already know what Monty can do — why not give the bulk of remaining starts to Primeau?

I agree wholeheartedly, 18 games left so I expect to see Montembeault 12-13 times. So dumb.

So you believe Pens will have Celebrini replace Crosby who replaced Lemieux?
That is how it works usually yes.

Oilers with McDavid when the team had a Gretzky in its history already.
Pens winning the Crosby lottery while Lemieux was on its last legs
Chicago gifted Bedard the season Kane and Toews leave the team.

I would be ok with San Jose or Columbus winning Celebrini (if not Habs of course). Those teams deserve it. Chicago, Arizona, Pens do not.

Especially on the right side…Levshunov would be great for them and great for us. Sharks probably go with Silayev.

It’s the BJ’s that concern me…probably gonna jump all over Lidstrom….gotta pick ahead of them!
The Lidstrom train reminds me of the Leo Carlsson train last season.
It's already left the station.

People forget Arizona won their last game to gift us Slaf.
I've looked at them as "Honest" these past two seasons.
This year however I think the blatant tanking we've seen out west has tainted them.

Getting harder and harder to imagine us finishing in a draft position better than 7th. Columbus, Senators, and Arizona are all horrible teams.

Any hope for a better position might be rekindled by a regulation loss to CBJ tomorrow.

I hate not being happy after a win or a loss for my team and i think-hope the NHL should-would do something about it, here's a couple of idea i got on what they could do.

First one is,

12 teams per conf in the playoffs, first 2 teams in each division get a by to the second round waiting 1 week for the other 8 teams who would play a best of 5 series in 7 days.
8 teams not making the playoffs are in a lottery with all equal odds for the first overall pick, the winning team has to wait another 7 years to be eligible of winning it again.

Second one,

If they want to keep the same playoffs format meaning only 16 teams make the playoffs, then atleast change the lottery rules,
make all the non-playoffs team have the same odds of winning the first overall pick and the winner has to wait another 15 years to be eligible of winning again.

When was our last must lose loss against a tank rival?
I truthfully don't remember.

We did as expected last week, managing to pick up only 2 pts of a possible 6. This week will see us pick up 3-4 pts depending on the Calgary game. Our hopes on finishing in the top 4 will vanish if we beat Columbus, sadly.

Revamping the playoffs is one thing. 16 of 21 teams used to make it. That's 24 out of 32. I think 24 is too many, and would consider some sort of play-in round.

IMO, the best way to redistribute wealth is not through the draft. Draft picks are no guarantee of success, and are often luck of the year. Instead, it's time for the league to attach NTC's. Any spirit of intent has been abused by players and agents. The union would likely revolt over an outright removal, so grandfather in a system whereby teams are limited by the number of NTC contracts they can have on their roster at any one time.

They need to make it so u can’t pick first in consecutive years. Chicago has the best odds again. Imagine if a Mcdavid or Mackinnon were available? Add that to Bedard. They have zero incentive to win and very good reason to lose.

Excellent point on NTC, also we see more guy's drafted not wanting to sign with teams who draft them, that shouldn't be allowed

Relegation like football.
that's an awful concept and i say it as an european with lot of european sports watching in my life. imagine an ahl team coming in the nhl next year... in europe it's possible since bottom teams are almost as poor as second division teams, but you don't want to watch leagues where average player on top team has higher wage than the whole bottom dweller team. it's just not fun at all.

An AHL team with a promotion bonus capable of signing NHL UFAs and partaking in the NHL draft. Over time it improves the talent of the AHL and makes the both leagues more competitive.

Moreover, you still have a min and max salary cap.

I'm really not into the idea of a play-in round. What is the point of having an 82 game season if you are then going to have a playoff for the playoffs. Seems silly.
Exactly! Those 82 games ARE the play-in round. If you're not good enough to make the playoffs after that, then you're not good enough. Adding more participation trophy playoff spots just waters down the playoffs.

There's too many teams. And more coming. Blame Buttman.
