The thing is, if Norris' career is done, they could very well use a forward. Giroux is a UFA next offseason. That only leaves Tkachuk, Stutzle, Batherson, Pinto, and Greig. The dmen in this draft are primarily offensive dmen which is more of what Chabot/Chychrun do which has hurt them. They need better defensive dmen.

Good news? I don't see a situation where they aren't drafting a defenseman with that pick.

Especially on the right side…Levshunov would be great for them and great for us. Sharks probably go with Silayev.

I would like to bring to everyone's attention that the Senators could not beat a goalie with 4 games of experience, good for 4 losses with a 5.81 GAA and .830 SV%.

With the loss Montreal stays one point up on Arizona, but now with no games in hand.

Arizona is @ Chicago tomorrow. Seriously that should be a game they can win. If they do, they pass Montreal again.

Montreal hosts Columbus on Tuesday. Columbus is 4 points back of Montreal. A big 4 point swing game.

Ottawa hosts Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Senaturds are still 4 pts back with 2 games in hand. The Pens have been getting absolutely smacked around lately. In 3 of their last 4 games, they've lost by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 5-1. Senators should be able to take advantage of that team, surely.

Pittsburgh has been so bad Buffalo has jumped them. Pens are now in #8 spot for draft. If they do lose to Sens & Montreal beats Columbus, Pens are only 4 pts up on Habs. Pens have replaced Buffalo as the team we're "chasing".

If people read Staios' quote before the game tonight. He basically said they were going to put the breaks on an accelerated rebuild.

I've seen Ottawa with the upper hand on the Habs in tank territory and we don't stand a chance.

We are 6 points away from Pens and we have 0 chance to have the tie break. So we need 7 more points IF they lose both games they have in hands. There's only 18 games remaining. If we are 10-8 it gives us 20 more points. So pens needs only 14 points to pass us. That means if we are 10-8 they just need to be 7-13 to pass us. This is IF we are 10-8 which would be a major surprise. If we are 6-12 pens only needs to be 3-17 to pass us.

But it's sad what is happening in Pittsburgh. They should sit with Crosby and talk about trading him. Gretzky ended his career honorably with a decent team. Same for Lemieux he ended his career right when Crosby started him own. At least the caps are semi decent they have a bunch of actually good prospects to play with ovy. Pens man the next couple of years should be brutal.

So Senators are on a 7 game losing streak. Arizona stopped their 13 game losing streak against Ottawa, and San Jose stopped their 9 game losing streak tonight against Ottawa.

This is the team that Dorion declared had finished its rebuild, and then that whole "summer of Pierre" fiasco.

Now, they're no longer in accelerated rebuild mode. Were they ever? Lol
