Can we just finish the draft in this thread? It's not going to really go much longer.

With our last pick, and the 187th pick, Canes select forward Dexter Dancs from the Vernon Vipers of the BCHL and FUTURE WOLVERINE!!!!

hqdefault.jpg

Scouting report : Dancs grew up and bulked up since 1 year ago, when he was first eligible and is now a big 6-2'' 205lb power forward. Great hands, great skating, pretty physical, and was just used in all the situations you can think of. Seriously in the 7th round, we feel lucky that he was still available.

Canes 2014 draft picks
7. Nick Ritchie
37. Anthony DeAngelo
67. Ben Thomas
96. Axel Holmstrom
97. Kevin Elgestal
127. Philippe Gadoury
187. Dexter Dancs

Note: If you need some names....I'm selling the rest of my list for not a whole lot of money....:D

Next GM was PM'ed.

With their final pick of the draft, 188 overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs select August Gunnarsson, W.

Little brother of current Toronto Maple Leafs Defenseman Carl Gunnarson. Have to take him at this point in the draft especially considering the brother factor. His name sounds like a stripper/pornstar too.

Toronto Maple Leafs 2014 Draft:
8. William Nylander, C/LW
68. Nick Magyar, C/RW
94. Alexandre Goulet, C
128. Lukas Bengtsson, D
158. Trevor Moore, C/LW
188. August Gunnarsson, RW

next GM will be PMd

Almost everyone I considered ended up being available for me to pick. Viktor Arvidsson, Philippe Gadoury, Andrew Mangiapane, Julien Pelletier, and the last person I have that wasn't picked were only ones that were taken from my list since my round 3 pick lol.

So what you are saying is that we did good deals in drafting them lower than where you ranked them.

Good pick, but for extra mock points I think I might have gone for a local guy with bloodline ties to the team, instead. After all, it's hard to imagine that his former coach (Carolina's new assistant GM) and father (director of defenseman development) won't lobby for him to be picked by the final round, at least. ;)

In other news, if yoteshot doesn't come through in the next hour or so, I'll end up keeping you guys on the hook until I'm back from work tomorrow evening.

With their final pick, the Winnipeg Jets select, from Carleton Place in the CCHL, defenceman Kelly Summers.

"Kelly is a project as he played in lower-tier league and his committed to Clarkson University next season. However, we like what he showed this year (60 pts in 56 games, winning the Fred Page cup) and like his size already. He has a powerful shot, but it's his hockey sense that separates him from the pack. He thinks like an NHLer already. He will need to work on his skating ability, but we are really happy to be able to select him in the 7th round."

9 - Jake Virtanen - W
69 - Vladimir Tkachev - W
99 - Reid Gardiner - W
101 - Matthew Mistele - W
129 - Kyle Wood - D
159 - Edwin Minney - G
189 - Kelly Summers - D

Very happy with our draft here in Winnipeg. A little bit bummed about that Tkachev pick because I was rushed and would probably have picked someone else, but he still brings something that's needed in our system, so all in all, I'm satisfied.

Thought about leaving this guy for the Habs' last pick, but since Summers just went...

With the 190th pick overall, and our last trip to the podium this year, the Senators are proud to select forward Chris Wilkie of the USHL's Tri-City Storm.

"While Chris has always brought a significant amount of offensive ability/instinct to the game with his hockey I.Q., hands, playmaking, and shot, we've also noticed that his play away from the puck has started to come along under coach Jim Hulton. Described as a hard worker who also shows leadership in the locker room, we're elated to pick him up this late in the draft... even if he's a Habs fan."

edit: Phoenix PM'd.

That's a great draft and Summers in the 7th is epic.

Ottawa Senators Draft Summary

40. Travis Sanheim (D)
70. Linus Soderstrom (G)
100. Michael Amadio (F)
190. Chris Wilkie (F)

I dunno. I feel like I did quite a bit with not so much. Happy with the quality of player though, that's for sure.

Impressive draft for someone with only 4 picks!

Also like the Sharks draft quite a bit, passed their 1st rounder

Thanks! Yours should "score" pretty well on draft day, too, I'd say. Just realized I tapped into 4 different leagues with those 4 picks, which I hadn't expected given the strength/glut of OHL talent that's rising to the top these days. I was focused on a defenseman first, then a goalie, and the rest was obviously just taking what I could get with all the good drafting going on. :)
