I know you're probably kidding but if the Jays cant come through with at least one pitcher better than Stro then FO would be a disappointment. Stro benefitted from playing in a pitcher friendly park imo

He is only 2 years removed from pitching here, and he was good here. O course it would all depend on how much and how long.

If there’s a chance to get Pablo Lopez, we should be all over it.
Healthy Pablo Lopez is a great pitcher and would be a great addition. Aslong as everyone is going in with eyes wide open that this is a pitcher with massive and I mean massive injury red flags. So we are looking at a pitcher who has hit the IL three separate times with shoulder issues and would cost a healthy price to acquire. It would be a roll of the dice.

Rogers Pushes Out CEO Natale, Replaces Him With Ex-CFO Staffieri - Bloomberg

Rogers Communications Inc. has pushed out Chief Executive Officer Joe Natale and will replace him with Tony Staffieri, the former chief financial officer who was fired less than seven weeks ago, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The move comes less than two weeks after a Canadian court settled a bitter family battle for control of the board, handing it to Edward Rogers, the son of founder Ted Rogers and a critic of Natale.

Natale’s future became the focal point of a war between Edward and his family members -- including his mother, Loretta Rogers, and two of his sisters, Melinda Rogers-Hixon and Martha Rogers. They joined together with five independent directors to block his attempt in September to dump Natale and promote Staffieri.

Instead, Staffieri was sacked on Sept. 29 and the power struggle spilled into public view. Edward Rogers took the company to the Supreme Court of British Columbia, arguing that he had the power to fire and replace the independent directors who had foiled his plans. When the court ruled in his favor on Nov. 5, Natale’s days were numbered.

You’re correct, but he continues to develop as a pitcher despite that.

If anyone can tweak his form to cut down on injuries, it would be Pete Walker

Yeah I mean a healthy Lopez is awesome no complaints. Shoulder injuries with pitchers...especially pitchers with multiple ones should make any skittish though, especially with a presumably big asking price. Not saying I am against it all together but if it does happen and we trade Kirk + + to acquire him everyone should have eyes open that he is one pitch away from a not so minor injury to that shoulder.

I can't see it being Kirk ++, it'll be Kirk with a B level prospect.

I’d rather avoid any pitcher with a history of a bad shoulder in a deal that involves Kirk.

Unless the shoulder issues really depress his value (which could very well be the case) I think you need a significant addition to Kirk if you want Lopez.

I think that the issue that people have is that Miami will want similar value for Lopez as Alcantara/Rogers but people here fear that he is damaged goods. Basically, if we're going to pay the asking price, we best be getting one of their top 2.

Oh... maybe? I don't think Kirk + another good piece is similar value to what it would take for Alcantara or Rogers, though. Those guys probably start with Moreno or something.

Reading the article on SN about Ray, if he re-signs I would be perfectly happy to extend a non-roster invite to Souza Jr to see if he can make the club.

With awards season in full swing, I was curious about some of the interesting stats that get tracked. B-R tracks how close people are to being hall of fame worthy.

Right now, Vladdy is about 1/4 of the way to being a hall of fame and closer to halfway in one measure (at the ripe old age of 22)

I think 2 teams that will be forced to trim $$$ will be better trade partners.
Florida looking to make a baseball trade and that is fine.

Oakland and Cincy are being forced to trade some higher priced talent and to me make a better trade partner.

Not many times have a catcher to offer as good as Kirk, nevermind the fact Kirk is controllable for plenty of years at a low price for a team that doesn't really spend.

If catcher is the one position the Marlins want to improve as the rumors state, then take will have a hard time matching the Jays when it comes to Kirk.

I wonder what a Vlady extension looks like. Tatis Jr. signed a 14-year $340 million contract so gotta think he wants something close to that.

Tatis brings SS defence to the table.
A Vladdy extension will be a fat one but not to Tatis levels.

And a cool story on Tatis signing with a firm when he was a minor league player taking a lump sum for a % of future earnings. Both parties did pretty good...
Fernando Tatis Jr.’s $340 million contract will be shared with a firm that invested in him when he was a teenager

Schrezer
Berrios
Ryu
Verlander
Manoah

Would be pretty damn good.

Sherzer is literally the best win-now starter on the market. If it was either/or, I would take Ray over Verlander every day. Also, I can't say us dishing out that kind of money. That could hypothetically go past 60M in cost per year.

If Sherzer signed here, we would immediately pivot to trade for a starter.
