If somehow the Jays can acquire this guy with Minny picking up half of his salary that would be major coup. He is exactly what this teams needs going into next season. Defensively sound, and a great clubhouse guy for younger guys. Would fit right in with this group.

Josh Donaldson's defense completely tanked last season (he's now old and coming off multiple injuries) and I see nothing to suggest that he's a "great clubhouse guy", whatever that even is.

Literally the worst defensive 3B in baseball last year. Kyle Seagar put up a better year, will cost less, is a FA, and a likely bounceback candidate (especially if he got to hit in the homerdome 81 games a year).

I'm always hesitant to project too much based on one year (especially when UZR and DRS don't agree on his defense), but he's 35, has had chronic leg injuries for several years now, and is one of the slowest runners in the league, so there's no way I would expect even average defense out of him for his age 36-37 seasons.

I mean... none of this matter because the Jays definitely aren't getting Donaldson, but I suspect most people who want him back just want him because he's a Jays legend and not because it would actually be a good move for the team.

I'm not a big fan of Seager at this point unless he's really cheap and allows them to spend a bunch elsewhere. Or if (and I know this isn't happening, but...) he's only signing here because he wants to play with his brother. I wouldn't complain about that at all.

Seager is a good Plan D or E. He shouldnt be the target.

Ramirez is 1, Chapman 2. maybe Bryant 3. Outside of that you are looking at a SS or 2b to move to 3B like the other Seager, Baez or Correra.

Chapman should be easier to get.

Ramirez is a clear best option because he is the best 3b in baseball.

Bryant has been the 10th best 3b over the past 3 years yet wants to be paid like a top 5 overall player. Unless his price comes way down, he's a hard no for me.

For Chapman, it depends on price and what Seagar is asking. If he is relatively cheap, Chapman is 2 imo. If Seagar would accept 1 x 12-15, that might a good option as well.
