Jays denied the Mets permission to talk to Shapiro per Mets turn page after Bill Arnold passes on president post

They don't think he would have had any interest in hearing the Mets out any way.

The Mets are still peed because of the Springer scenario. Trying to get anything from us would be payback. Good on the Jays to not allow it. But considering Shapiro not too long ago re-upped with the Jays and those rumors were already circulating. I would agree that Shapiro wouldnt be interested anyway.

I hardly think a multi billion dollar sports franchise is petty enough to think that snatching an executive from someone as retribution for missing out on a player they could have had if they matched the term is a thing.

Which is normally true, but the Mets' search is being run by Cohen himself with questionable amounts of input by Alderson. I don't know what his personality is like, but this isn't a baseball executive making a decision, it is one man.

Do you not know who Cohen is? He is at par with what Steinbrenner was in his hayday. He is as petty as it gets. His ego is so large that he feels he knows better than anyone and should have the best. Today's equivalent of Jerry Jones.

If this is true and Atkins could have acquired Ramirez at deadline but balked at Moreno ask then that is really stupid. All-star 2 way third basemen are hard to come by, especially one that has been developed by another organization and is the real deal. Some will say that catchers are just as difficult if not more to hit on when it comes to drafting and developing them.

But the Jays issues this past season was not catching it was the albatross hole at 3rd base. Remember not all of your starting lineup needs to be an offensive juggernaut. Catcher is the one position teams can fill with a defensively sound player, that calls an average to above average game for their pitching staff. If they pitch in offensively that is fantastic, but its not the end of the world if catcher is your worst offensive position on game day if he provides intangibles in other parts of the games played.

I would rather have a combination of Jansen/Kirk/McGuire and Ramirez than a hope that Moreno's play translates to MLB level as a catcher. Not too many catchers pan out, and the ones we have are really not bad for what they provide.

Combined stats from our catchers in 2021: AVG .242, HR 20, RBI 62, OBP .315, OBP+ .730

No way the Moreno hype keeps building and his stock is skyrocketing.

He's going to be a top 10 prospect before next season; hell he could push top 5. Teams don't trade these guys, at least the franchises worth emulating.

Baseball America ranked his hit tool the as Vlad's, 80. His stats in AA are incredible and his defense is lauded even more

We're getting atleast another Bichette probably even better considering he doesn't have the holes Bo does. I'd rather trade most of the farm then him and we could still get Rameriez without Moreno. That's how deep we are

Yeah I don't mind players seeking the most they can get. They have a very short window to make generations altering money.

A's just let Bob Melvin talk to the Padres about their manager job and he took it. Oakland is slashing money and saves $4 million by letting him go. Melvin is a very good manager and if Oakland is selling to save money well let's call them for Chapman and Manea and all it takes is prospects which the Jays have a lot of.

Not really that shocking this year. He led his position with 12 assists this season (next best had 7). His arm alone is worth as much as anybody else’s overall contributions in LF.

He consistently got removed for a defensive replacement this season

Nevermind that his fortune comes from running hedgefunds and he got away with insider trading. He's a very unlikeable dude.
