Proposal: JJ Peterka to the Oilers

IMO, he would be a nice fit with his fellow German, Leon Draisaitl.

Maybe something like; Arvidsson, Prospect and 2025 3rd ??

All Oiler assets should go towards D and G.

If the Sabres are stupid enough to trade peterka.. it needs to be a hockey trade that improves them the next day. Preferably an overpay.

Pretty bad offer for a high end RFA, but you also wont get a rational answer from Sabres fans. Theyre in last place in the East and dont think they should be sellers.

Or maybe it's just that your ideas are too outlandish even for people who would be prepared to sell...
There is nothing coming from Sabres fans that is irrational about their plaxyers.

Buffalo has zero reason to trade the best of their (youngish) etablished players, because they are the part that is working, the part they need more of, not less. They also have zero reason to part with veteran players for picks and prospects, because they already have those coming out of their ears and need more good veteran players, not less.

Buffalo fans seem to be more than willing to give up on some high-end prospects to improve their team, Just like they seem to be willing to trade some of their better players for players of equal skill that are a better fit to their needs, or UFAs to be for something they can actually use. Now, if you want to fleece them, they would obviously reject that. But that would make you the irrational one, not them.

JJ Peterka for Podkolzin + Savoie + 3rd rounder?

Oilers keep their bad contracts.
 
Would love Peterka on the hawks but I’m not sure Buffalo and Chicago are a match. (Much like the Cozens trade packages)

Peterka seems like an Avalanche type of player.

Trade proposal threads, and sure, I’ll take it if it means I come across such terrible proposals less often. You can’t look at that original proposal and think this is a discussion worth having, or that OP really thought it out in any way.
 
Edmonton almost literally has NOTHING available that a team in Buffalo's position would value in a Peterka trade, right? Does everybody acknowledge that? So if you are going to try to pile up things that aren't very interesting... I mean, you are maybe going to throw in Podkolzin since he's a little bit younger, but the main returns will be like Akey, the 2025 2nd from STL, plus 1sts for like at least 2026 and 2027? You can't get a Peterka without a gross overpay on futures... it will cost you basically EVERY meaningful futures asset Edmonton has.

So... then... if Edmonton is more like "all in" for the next couple season to win now... why not spread those futures assets out and pick up some shorter-term more veteran assets from other teams instead of Peterka? The next couple of seasons should be all that really matter for Edmonton.
