Would absolutely be stoked to have JRam here for 2 years on the cheap. But yeah, the pricetag is going to be outrageous, which is expected for a top 10 player. I'd be willing to do Kirk plus prospects, but if they wanted Gurriel, on top of the prospects and Kirk, I'd decline that too.

This may not be good for the blue Jays

My thoughts exactly. I cant see the mother and other siblings say "lets continue Edward's commitment to the Jays by increasing their payroll as we kick him out the door". Hopefully they see this as a good opportunity to redirect the bad PR to good by confirming Rogers' commitment to the Jays and then some.

Also worries me that Shapiro was hired by Edward. If the mother and siblings think Shapiro is loyal to Edward then there could be a new President and GM, or perhaps the family would want to bring in their own people.

How big of a star would Jose Ramirez be if he played in a market like NY or BOS compared to Cleveland?

Last 5 seasons overall WAR for hitters in MLB

1. Mike Trout 29.6
2. Mookie Betts 29.2
3. Jose Ramirez 28.0

Thats awesome but I think its a pipe dream that we acquire him. The cost would be too large. If it doesnt cost us Groshans, Moreno, Manoah and Pearson, I am all for it. But I dont believe that would be the case.

Maybe Cleveland will give us a discount because of history with our front office. Heck we did with trading Donaldson to them. Who knows.

Sounds like Edward is trying to overhaul the board which may see him reinstated as chairman. Considering his commitment to the team, hopefully that's the case as fans. We've seen what heirs with less passion for the sports entity/entities have done in a bad way.

I'm counting 21.3 fWar and 19.6 bWar for Jose...or are these all pro-rated over 162 games?

I went to Fangraphs under batting leaders 2021. Then set it from seasons 2017 to 2021 and it posted this

Do people still use WAR as a good stat?

Jon Heyman on 2022 free agents | 10/22/2021

Heyman's Predictions:
Javier Baez - Mets
Carlos Correra - Tigers (possibly Houston or a New York Team)
Corey Seager - Yankees
Marcus Semien - Twins
"If they (The Twins) get into a battle with the Jays I don't see them winning it, it's a bit of a long shot." - On Semien
Trevor Story - Rangers

Clayton Kershaw - Dodgers, if he leaves, the Rangers
Max Scherzer - Dodgers or Angels
Justin Verlander - Angels
Robbie Ray - Yankees but the Jays will compete to keep him.
Also Heyman says he is voting for Ray to be his Cy Young winner

Kris Bryant - Mets
Nick Castellanos - Brewers
Freddie Freeman - Braves (predicts the final deal to be $150 over 5 years)
Albert Pujols - Cardinals

The Jays have more to spend than anyone else, 2 huge holes that line up with a lot of the free agents positions and he doesn’t see them signing any major free agent except a courtesy they’ll compete for their 2 free agents back?

How exactly would the Yankees make Seager and Ray work payroll wise when from all indications they aren't able to go over the luxury tax. I just don't see them being players for multiple top end free agents. I think they are heavy into the trade market this winter.

So predicting us to not get anyone lol?

Even though it’s being well reported we are going to be aggressive and we have loads of budget to spend

Nothing worse then a fan from Boston. Just the most entitled fanbases you've ever seen who somehow plays the "underdog" card with every team. While also having massive payrolls.
