They're wrong.
The Rangers are 14th in goals. They're 7th in hits.
Before the trades, Vesey and Goodrow played in the top 6 every game.
The Rangers are a slow, lumbering, physical, dump-and-chuck team with Panarin freelancing on his own little island to give them some semblance of a threat. Watching them play could put Cocaine Bear to sleep. They absolutely 100% needed more skill.
"The Rangers need sandpaper" is just a meme that exists since the Flyers beat us up in the 1970's.
That doesn't really convince me otherwise, because that sens team was also one of the top hitting teams with Chris Neil, Mike Fisher, and Anton volchenkov near the top....didn't change the fact come playoff time, the majority of the roster played more perimeter hockey.
From the Rangers games I've seen recently, they too, have lots of talent, but also seem to be playing more perimeter hockey. Kane and panarin circling the zone and making sweet sauces seems nice, but they need to drive the net more with sandpaper. Kreider used to do it alot but does it less now. Zibby used to do it occasionally but now I never see him do it.
Not sure who you have that is going to break through walls to get wins on this team.
