The big guns for the NYR let them down, Kakko will be a useful player but probably not as good as once hoped, Laf just seems lost really.
Yeah unfortunately all their big guns are older and don't match up well in fast paced hockey. Guys like Panarin, Kane, and Zibanejad all prefer to slow things down and play more east-west hockey, but that's hard to do against a team with the forward speed of the devils. The back pressure was causing serious issues, particularly for Panarin.

There's a reason their best line at 5v5 was the kid line. They play more of a north south game and that was much more effective. The Devils absolutely blew the doors off the Rangers without that line on the ice at 5v5:

With the Kid line:
51:17 TOI
2.88 xGF/60
2.25 xGA/60
56.2 xG%

Without any member of the Kid line:
208:32 TOI
1.90 xGF/60
3.21 xGA/60
37.1 xG%

Without the entire Kid line:
280:53 TOI
2.16 xGF/60
3.32 xGA/60
39.4 xG%

3 more years of Panarin at $11.65 million with the way he’s performing…..

Good luck New York
He has been their best point producer every single season he played for them.

Yes, his play off stats have not been great but it was not good by anyone not named Kreider this time around. Guys like Kane, Zibanejad, Trocheck were non factors..

So let’s not make him the scapegoat, he absolutely earns his salary

Rangers had a solid team in paper but many of them like Laf proved to be disappointments.

Also mental choke, couldn’t win the series when they had a chance

Not sure if it was a mental choke. Last year they came back vs Pitt and Carolina. This year they had a series lead, played two very close games at home which the Devs snuck away with(one in OT) couldve gone either way. Game 5 was the first time they were resoundly beaten, game 6 they won convincingly, and Game 7 on the road they lose to a very good team. It's a lost series but that's not a choke

Literally the most productive P/GP player in franchise history and we’re a damn original six team! Every season he’s had is up there among the greatest of all time for our team. People also seem to forget he was the headliner of the last free agent class right before Covid lockdowns shutdown the league and the global economy, everyone thought the cap was going way up prior to that. And the “superior” players fans throw out there of having comparable salaries were never UFA’s.

Even if they found a team with the cap space to acquire him somehow, we’re not going to get talent of his caliber back; and blah blah blah the cap space.. well, we traded Buchnevich for cap space and used more than what he signed for to sign *checks notes* Nemeth, Reaves, Blais & Goodrow.

Get rid of Panarin and we get rid of half the skill on our team. We need a new coach who is more of a systems guy and more of a hardass like Torts, not a players coach like Gallant who brings out Panarin’s worst habits.

Fair enough, perhaps any close game could have ended in NYR win. If that’d have happened, we wouldn’t even have this conversation.

This is actually hard to believe.

Laf just went for a casual skate around the rink

That’s honestly shocking though. He literally did nothing, or at least he can say he was on the ice for 2 goals for and 2 goals against. He probably wasn’t even apart of either plays though

It’s one thing to look bad and struggle, but to not even be noticeable is very concerning

Kids have speed and endurance, other lines did not. Would have been nice to know how Gallant would really have wanted to change the team/game since NJD beat him with his own weapons.

NYR full of underperformers. How can it be that everyone on that team plays below their capabilities?

A non-Rangers fan started the thread and Rangers fans unanimously thought it was ridiculous so there's that.
I have to ask here, because the thread is closed where you posted it, but do you still think Adam Fox is the best *defensive* defenseman in the league?

My man had this copied and ready to paste since October just waiting to paste it and irk Rangers fans. Y'all are a different breed, man!
I have better things in my life than hold decent quips for 6-7 months. I can see why you would think so because the quip so well thought out that it had to be planned for months. It was made up in a quick second, some of us are perfectly built for that

You bumped a two-month-old thread. It was weighing on your brain.

They came back against Pittsburgh because Pittsburgh had to play an AHL goalie. They would have lost that series otherwise.
