Honestly I thought Kakko was one of the Rangers best overall forwards (him and Chytil). He scored a few points, was a beast along the boards and behind the net, had a +2 penalty differential, and had really strong underlying 5v5 numbers.

Lafreniere was pretty much invisible though.

Kakko is for sure already a 3rd line player. Scored 40 points this year with pretty much no meaningful PP time (<1m per game) while playing very strong 2 way hockey.

To make a long story short, yellow is quality.

If you're on the right side of zero, you're good at it, and obviously the left side (negative) is bad.

The Rangers, despite being the 7th best team by this metric, don't have any yellow. They don't generate any quality scoring chances. The team is bad at offense.

"Just drive the net!" There's four guys standing there. The Rangers have no ability whatsoever to draw defenders out of position.
