The best part of this whole fiasco has been watching the reactions of the token board contrarians.

Before, people on this board would tell them management collectively is uninspired, antiquated, feckless, and incompetent, to which their reply was "nuh uh!"

Now there are people in the media and outside this board writing tidbits about how truly dysfunctional the front office is, and the contrarian response is too stick their fingers in their ears, close their eyes, and scream "NUH UH!!!!" even louder. They'll cling to any morsel of info dropped from management designed to cover their collective asses, and hold it up like gospel. God forbid they be wrong. They can't be wrong, because then their whole world and every inane argument they've made the last decade are wrong! Deflect! Redirect! Anything to avoid blaming current management!

ASF saying not to blame Dave Scott in any way if the Flyers don't get better is hysterical.
After five years how can you expect a CEO to actually learn how his business works and do some research so he isn't totally dependent on his senior advisors?

I do believe yesterday’s stories were probably exaggerations based on a few breadcrumbs about internal debates.

EDIT: I should clarify that I think the sources probably exaggerated these breadcrumbs.

Please don’t ever use this man as anything other then posting mocking him in the Septic Thread.

Tortorella glorifies a version of hockey from the Hitting Era as hockey moves into a new skilled/offensive era. Just like the dumbass Cronies who live in a false version of the past. That's Flyers Values now. They're going to cling to obsolete player types and roles until those players don't even exist to be acquired anymore.

Imagine no other team wants someone as their coach. Imagine bidding 4 years and 4 per against yourself. Imagine doing this after going 5 years and 5 per for the last shit coach, still getting a check for 2 years.

This seems like something a smart team does. No desperation whatsoever. Oh, hey, look it’s even comparable to some of the best coaches in the league. Ipso facto, Tortorella is one of the best coaches in the league. Can’t believe he wanted to come here!

Barnaby played 58 games for Torts in 2000-2002, 8 points, -10, 10:14, then got traded to the Rangers for Zdeno Ciger.
But he doesn't have an ax to grind.
The year after they dumped him, Torts took TB to the playoffs.
The only old players on that team, Andreychuk (39), Tim Taylor (33). Jason Cullimore (30)
The next year they added Stillman (30) and won the Cup.

As far as stifling offensive players,
Martin St Louis (UFA) blossomed under Torts, Brad Richards (#64) same, Pavel Kabina D (#179), Stillman had his career year in TB.
