You have a very dark sense of humor.

That's why we get along.

I mean look at their roster. Theyve got less talent than we do but still got to the ECF.

This team desperately needs structure. I think a lot of our players will find more success in structured system. Trotz style isnt my fav either but lets face it, if its not Trotz itll be another dinosaur.

One can complain about a few things regarding Trotz's coaching style but the guy has structure to the play of his teams and they win. It's not my preference in play but it is successful to a degree. His record with the Isles is not bad considering how the schedule was stacked against them.
What concerns me is his moving from Nashville to Washington and now the Isles. Is he one of these inflexible guys where it's his way or the highway and he clashes with the FO?

He didn't get re-signed by the Caps because the management didn't want to pay him for winning them a cup that year. They were being cheap and so they moved on.

We will not hire Trotz. Maybe he would refuse because he can see how awful this team is run anyway. If I tell myself Trotz rejected a Flyers offer I will feel better than acknowledging that this team would never offer him a contract in the first place.

Have you learned nothing this past decade?

A coach isn't solving some of the plaguing issues of this roster.

Would he consider himself fit well with Chuck?
I imagine that goes into the discussion, but as much as we don't like Chuck, you can't just assume that everyone else feels that way. It may be an issue, or it may not be, but at the end of the day if the money is right I think he'd roll the dice. It sounds like the contract is what has caused his last two departures. According to NHL Network radio in the car earlier today, Trotz was looking for certainty regarding his future in NYI and 'ol Lou didn't like it so got rid of him now rather than waiting to see what happens next season.

Well Trotz did it in NY with a worse roster so i dont see why he cant here.

Unless Fletch makes our roster even worse this summer lol

Chuck's dream of building the 2019-2020 Islanders is one step closer to completion if he can convince Trotz to degrade himself by signing here. I would guess Trotz would prefer some time off though.

They have some horrific contracts, but are we really going to say that has been a bottom 1/3 of the league roster the last 3 seasons? Barzal is more talented than anyone on this roster. I think most people would take their top pair and goalies also. Brock Nelson, Lee, Dobson, PGP...Now they are likely to suffer a fall from grace because of an aging core, bad contracts, and a lack of young ELC talent but he had a lot more to work with there then he will here. Look who is running the show here. If his last 15 years in the league are any indication Chuck Fletcher isn't going to be creating a talent-full lineup himself.

If you want to bring in a retread, at least make sure they are actually impactful and not just dependent on goalies making saves.

Do you mind sharing your list and why? Just for curiosity and information.

Honestly, it's mostly the list from the front page, not counting the retreads and in-house guys.

Gronborg, Groulx, and Lambert are my top 3.

Behind those three, from the front page we have Leaman, Carbery, Nelson, Knoblauch, and Vincent, at least.

I also like Jeff Halpern from TB, Kirk Muller, who IIRC did an OK job in MTL but failed the French test, Jeff Daniels from Carolina, and Rocky Thompson if he can/will get vaccinated. I think a couple of those are ahead of the names I have in the middle batch.

Broadly, I want someone who's been an assistant coach on a top performing team, or a successful AHL coach (or Gronborg.)

Trotz is by a mile the best retread available.

He's probably feeling pretty happy with his decision, even if it cracks others up.

Hire a good coach instead of just a known name, please.

But I'm sure Chuck is going to offer Trotz a giant contract since this stupid asshole fetishizes that Islanders team.

Throwing stupid money at a coach is the only way Scott can validate his "blank checkbook" statement because we sure as shit don't have the salary cap space for it.
