It could be Boudreau if he doesn't stay in Vancouver. That was the last coach Fletcher hired for the Wild.

I didn't realize his regular season career record was so good: 599-317-125 (.635)

Might take until the 20th game, but the Flyers probably want the PR exposure of a meaningless celebration for Boudreau's 600th win.

At the very least, Boudreau knows offensive hockey and I could see a number of players really having career years under Bruce. Wouldn't be the worst hire.

Devils are not bringing back Mark Recchi as assistant coach.
So there's another former Flyer looking for a job.

Chuckles' Plan A was trying to sign Joel Quenneville when he went to FLA, so he settled for Plan B: AV. I think the league will reinstate Q after a year away, time served for not acting on Beach's accusations, and he'll sign in Philly.

The only problem with Montgomery is that he’ll be under the microscope at all times, & there will be people with cell phones recording everywhere if he slips up in his recovery.

Then you’ve got a huge media story & distraction on your hands, which is about the last thing the Flyers need, but seems almost inevitable with the dark cloud that’s been following them.
my friend, not a single human inside any philly bar would recognize the flyers head coach

Problem is in Minn he lost in the first rd twice, then miissed the playoffs twice.
Yeo actually had a better record under Fletcher. Made the playoffs 3 of 4 seasons, got to the 2nd rd twice.

Rumblings of dissatisfaction with Cassidy up in Boston. Carolina smoking them will do that. If he gets cut loose, he should be a top level candidate here. I've been impressed with the way that he has been able to bring in young players and get effective play out of them. His teams have structure and compete hard all over the ice.

He may see the writing on the wall of the Bruins finally trending down and want out anyway.

Since there is a lot of Tocchet talk here, make of this what you will.

Hard to disagree with that. That is the anti-AV approach.

If Boston is dumb enough to dump him Cassidy is an interesting choice.

Yeo will go to LHV and Lappy will come back up here. How horrible would that be?

If the new coach comes on board and has to have Yeo as an Asst., hopefully he'll be in charge on ensuring the correct number of pucks are coming back after practice and all the motivational signs and carpets they bring along on roadtrips are accounted for and packed away.
Wait! They have motivational signs and carpets? And they bring them on trips? That would explain a lot. Soft, just soft.

Kind of like what Tocchet said. Give him a 2 year contract. Don’t want Boodreau or Julien or Maurice or Torts.

I've really been thinking a lot about who would be the best coach for this team moving forward. I put together a list below based on some articles and looking at different coaching lists. We can add if I missed anyone. The team needs to move in a different direction based on what has transpired, but if we know (and we do) Cuck Fletcher and the old guys in the room, I think we'll know where it's going. I

Within (should be the absolute last option)
Mike Yeo
Ian Laperrière

Retreads
John Tortorella
Claude Julien
Rick Tocchet **** who I think they'll choose
Mike Babcock
David Quinn

Asst. Coaches/AHL/Europe/College
Rickard Gronberg **** this is the guy I want.
Lane Lambert - Asst. Coach - NYI
Nate Leaman - HC - Providence College
Pascal Vincent - Asst. Coach - CLB
Spencer Carbery - Asst. Coach - TOR
Kris Knoblauch - HC - Hartford Wolfpack
Jim Montgomery - Asst. Coach - STL
Jay Leach - Asst. Coach - SEA
Troy Mann - HC - Belleville Senators
Mike Vellucci - Asst. Coach - PIT
Todd Nelson - Asst. Coach - DAL
Manny Malhotra - Asst. Coach - TOR

Added after 1st post
Benoit Groulx - HC - Syracuse Crunch
Paul Maurice
Ryan Warsofsky - HC - Chicago Wolves
Joel Quinnville

Flyers should go and hire Coach Q and add Groulx and Montgomery as assistants....a happy medium of Flyers nepotism and some coaching experience with some fresh ones.

It’s frankly f***ing disgusting that people are advocating for Q. He was part of the brain trust who protected a molester. There is a level of basic decency and humanity that is non-existent there that is unforgivable, straight-up.

Fletcher lost me for the season when reports surfaced that he didn't even want to consider Claude coming back.

If they hire Q, they've lost me until every last one of these shitheads is in a grave.

This is what drives me nuts about Fletcher. We all wanted q but when he wasn't available he stayed locked on that proven vet mold. Like if a first line center isn't available he won't move off even if the next best is a third line guy.
I'm half expecting him to sign evander Kane so we can just loathe the whole team
