If we do get trotz, I’m definitely in the worried column. He’s not coming anywhere if it’s a rebuild. So if he does come here, it’s because fletcher is openly saying he is aiming to compete.

Which isn’t going to work.

The Flyers have already bottomed out. Greatly assisted by long-term injuries. Otherwise, there's no way they finish this poorly.

So, unless Fletch sells off Ellis and Coots, I just don't see this result happening again.

I don't think anyone is going to win with this roster currently. You either go with a veteran teacher for two years or a young gun you are committed to for five

I’m not worried about them “bottoming out” again. Health alone will ensure they aren’t as bad as they were this year. But it won’t ensure they are as good as they need to be either. Mediocrity isn’t something to hang our hat on. Worst, it puts us in hockey purgatory. Not good enough to compete, not bad enough to get franchise altering talent.
Well, you really only need to listen to him when he says things that agree with your narrative. Otherwise you shouldn't believe him.
It’s not a narrative I’m spinning. Just taking the context and making a couple deductions. I personally believe this team needs an influx of top tier talent—there isn’t a single player I’d put at the top ten of their positions with the exception of couturier, and there has to be a question about his health. You don’t get that talent without bottoming out, unless you’re exceptionally lucky.

The red flag for me is fletcher saying we need to retool (a soft rebuild) but if he signs trotz that speaks to winning now.

Winning Teams GF this post season:

1 x1
2 x2
3 x1
4 x9
5 x11
6 x3
7 x4
8 x1

4.78 AVG

Lots of poor defensive teams out there...

What's the average penalties and power play goals scored per game?

There's a reason why whoever scores first has a better chance of winning a game.

Sorry, that wasn't pointed at you.

Fletcher has already said that.
So did Hextall as he sold off Coburn, Kimmo and anyone one else who wasn't tied down.
Fletcher already said it's not going to take 5 years, which sure leaves a lot of room.

Fletcher is also terrible at his job, so we can rest assured it'll take longer than 5 years. He's already on the verge of Year 4.

I kinda hope they gamble on an outside-the-box, up and coming coach. He needs to either be really good or really bad. If he’s good, that’s great, if he’s bad, we’ll have another lottery pick, which is great, too. Just no more mediocrity

I think Trotz is one of the best in the game, but I don't think his style would work here. I don't think this team is built anywhere close to the Islanders/Preds style.
