One thing I know BSH talked about one day is that the Flyers know their STH base is old and that it is a problem and they have no idea how to fix it. And now they’re pushing out folks like me (I am 37), who don’t have a family, so someone who is 37 and does have a family won’t be able to afford tickets and younger millennials and Zoomers can’t even afford a house much less have disposable income.

The Flyers actually have done things to push people out of the STH clubs that aren’t actual people (either brokers or companies, although a lot of them are in boxes), but you have a bad team AND an overall product that isn’t hot. And now for the first time you have a generation that isn’t invested nor nostalgic about the franchise.
U.S. Economy = Recession

Flyers Organization = Depression

Seriously with all the economic headwinds who the hell is going to spend whatever discretionary income they may or may not have on this no frills product with shitty shrunken packaging....

There are only 32 NHL head coaching jobs in the world.

Tons of coaches would’ve killed for the opportunity.

Just because the top 1 or 2 candidates on the market had other options they preferred doesn’t mean no one wanted the Flyers job.
otherwise they wouldnt bother to interview us.

We dodged a bullet.
Trotz making $7M would tear the future apart for one last SC run before he retires with his mega-millions.
Because I doubt he has the patience to spend 2-3 years building a team, then trying to make a playoff run.

Trotz just makes more sense for a talented team that has underachieved and needs a HC to get them over the hump.

Fletcher botched the trade by insisting he won't entertain bringing Giroux back and thus slashing the number of teams available, before also leaking that and destroying his leverage somehow. Or he outright targeted a poor asset because he sucks and values sucky things.

There is no version of events that makes Fletcher look good.
What the hell are you talking about? Giroux gave him one trade option. Fletcher didn’t leak diddly squat. We don’t even know a leak came from the Flyers. The return wasn’t great but it wasn’t terrible either when you consider the circumstances.

Trotz is close to retiring at 59, but Torts at 63 isn't?

Do you even believe the things you type anymore?

Giroux told him he'd lengthen his list if Fletcher would bring him back and Fletcher refused. This has been known for a few months now.

So I read a rumour that Fletcher isn't happy with Tortorella as the potential new HC? Why the f*** is he being hired then? If true, it's obvious whose actually running the team

Seems as though things are going over his head and it may mean the end of his term.

If they want a new crop of fans they need to win again. They are riding on the Broad Street Bullies still that was 50 years ago. It’s insane. Lindros gave them a bump, 2010 was nice but a lucky run. It’s time to build a team that is going to get little kids to cover their walls in Flyer shit just like a lot of us did.

They're convinced that grinding and defense will do that. Because they're stupid as f***.

Sure, but I would like to point out that 2010 was not a "lucky run." That Flyers team was stacked and if it wasn't for Emery having a season ending injury, we likely win the Cup.

Eh I disagree.

They played the 2 seed in jersey to start which was a great draw. Then they got lucky to beat Boston after being down 0-3. They had home ice in the ECF despite being the 7 seed! There are a lot of fortunate matchups there.

They were the 8 seed and went to the finals.

Hartnell talking about how Torts benched him because he was defensively out of position. When they went to show him video cuts, they couldn't find anything, but Torts said he just couldn't trust him even though he's in position defensively and Hartnell was near the top of points on the team.

The Flyers were the preseason pick to win the Stanley Cup by the hockey news that year. The run was favorable but they had a lot of talent on that roster.

How great would it be for Gaudreau to play under Torts in Philadelphia? Now that's an entertaining timeline
