soooo.. if that is indeed the case, would it be fair believe that these so called consultants were actually casting a wider net than just identifying a suitable coaching candidate? ASF mentions Cuck not being on board with the hire.. perhaps this is only a small part of it.

Perhaps their report did spell out several clear deficiencies to Scott, specific to Cuck, and the cronies are going to take the opportunity to pile on to save their own skins? Is Office Space and the two Bobs, “what would you say, you do here?” be very fitting to use here?

Chuck apparently was adamantly against Tortorella when everybody else was for it & they just overrode him. I think the issue is that Chuck is essentially a lame duck GM headed into this upcoming off-season/regular season & they didn’t let him make the HC hire. They also have his heir apparent in place with Briere. So it’s getting to the point for all parties what’s the point of having Fletcher as the GM anymore when you’re already phasing him.

NRD painted it as it’s more so Scott vs. Fletcher where the relationship soured & not necessarily the old guys vs. Fletcher.

i can’t think of anything that would be give me greater joy, than to see Cuck actually get phased out of the organization entirely. Not even able to land a plush job due to a total (warranted!) lack of respect. Out of the entire league for that matter. Spineless f***.

Would be a pity if Scott is too stupid to notice he has Fletcher because of the Olds.

Exactly. The Bruins are a good example of a team that treats their alumni well but doesn't give them any influence. I'm sure much of the league is run this way. The Flyers are decidedly not run this way and fired Hextall for trying to put a stop to it.
You might want to hold that beer. Neely and Sweeney just greased Cassidy’s skids.

This is from a Habs fan: the NHL is better with Torts behind a bench! Congratulations to Philly fans, get ready for a very colorful tenure!!!

He carried an otherwise bottom 5 team to the third round of the playoffs. Not only that his defensive impacts are far from bad anyway.
Right. He's become a decent defensive player. Much improved from where he was at. The guy just wants to win. Torts sees skill and flash and has to dump water on it. Dude's picture is next to "Dino" in the dictionary.

It started to sour at the press conference where Scott insisted they can compete in 2022-23 and Fletcher looked like he'd been given a death sentence.

The irony of ending up with Trots instead of Tortz or Cassidy is that Trots is the one "win now" guy who doesn't rely on veterans.
So Scott gets what he wants while the franchise still has a chance to survive.

NRD essentially implied on his latest podcast that came out today that Fletcher is getting fired in the coming weeks. He still wouldn’t divulge in exact details but said the Flyers are a complete mess in their front office right now. He essentially implied you’re going to be hearing more in detail from it soon in the national headlines like Friedman in these coming weeks.
Mehhh, I just listened to NRD’s Flyers segment.

It was pretty weak.

Seems like his knowledge of the situation is very vague.

Hence he waited for San Filippo to release his story, & is also waiting to hear what Friedman says because he “wants to see how it plays out in the media.” (I.e., he doesn’t have any intimate knowledge, just has picked up a few scraps.)

Sure, it sounds like there’s friction. But I don’t think they plan to fire him, or they would have already. And it wouldn’t make sense with the draft, free agency, & a huge off-season on the cusp.

Maybe more likely is Chuck feeling like there’s a coup & resigning. You get strong armed into a coach you don’t want, & have them force your probable replacement into your front office (Briere), it’s gotta be uncomfortable. So maybe he says F you I quit.

But I tend to think a lot is being made out of an internal squabble over Torts. I’m sure tempers flared & are still hot, but it’s not the first time an organization has had heated internal arguments. If I had to guess, it makes a great media story & gets a lot of clicks, but isn’t as big as they’re making it sound.
