People are more excited for the postgame pressers than the games. My question is: who’s sticking around for 2.5 hours until postgame? That’s like Paul McCartney doing 1 song at the end of a Phish concert.
The thing with the post game pressers… there’s no beat writers to push him or ask him tough questions that will piss him off. Now that first time he yells at a red? Boy oh boy this city is going to cream itself. The Bullies are back!

Good thing we have a good roster with a good front office in place here then!

SLURRRRRRP!

Ole Barry used them to drive up contract negotiations elsewhere. :sarcasm:

Weird, it’s exactly what ASF said. So I guess that discrediting the source thing that a certain poster has been doing for months now because he painted a bad picture of Fletcher because of Giroux might just be BS.

That's funny, b/c I said that when Trotz was initially brought up, that like Q, he'd use the Flyers for leverage with another team.
Maybe you don't need inside information to figure out the obvious.

You’re saying this as fact…..

I have no doubt that the old guard had serious input here, but Chuck Fletcher is the President and General Manager. Every decision he has made has been HockeyGuy cliched through and through. The idea he wants a locker room commanding, veteran, defensive focused coach is not incongruent with anything he does because he doesn’t shut the f*** up about those very things.

Christ, I remember when Hextall was fired, the same writers said that Hakstol was shackled by him. We’d see a new coach! Wouldn’t you know, must of these people are exactly who we think they are.

I could buy that Fletcher is a helpless pawn if he were only GM. Or if he were only President. Just getting swept away in the power structure, in a sea of voices.

He isn't though. He is GM, President, and Alternate Governor. His personal lapdog pudding-sack fatling is AGM and VP. He is the power structure.

Either he runs a horrible operation where he lets the inmates run the prison and needs to be fired along with everyone responsible for hiring and empowering and guiding him. Or things are going as he wants/directs and he needs to be fired along with everyone responsible for hiring and empowering and guiding him.

There is no version of events that absolves Fletcher and Friends from blame. All roads lead to the same inevitable solution.

Then they offered the job to Torturella, without having a deal done, and let it leak as a trial balloon. Right now he's filling in the blanks on the contract, and there will be no negotiation. ClusterChuck will accept whatever he asks for. My guess is 4 years x $5M, despite that fact that Torts is desperate and would probably take a one year deal for $2M, since he has no other offers. Hey, it's only our fans' money....
Why would he be desperate? He's got a TV gig, has probably made millions, has his name on the Cup.

Wanna bet how many seasons it is before they fire him too?
I’m not sure he gets through the first season just because of his bad it will get. He’s way over the hill and should be retiring honestly and this is the worst roster we’ve had in quite some time.

If he dies get through this season then very early into next season, Lavi style.

NRD essentially implied on his latest podcast that came out today that Fletcher is getting fired in the coming weeks. He still wouldn’t divulge in exact details but said the Flyers are a complete mess in their front office right now. He essentially implied you’re going to be hearing more in detail from it soon in the national headlines like Friedman in these coming weeks.

We should start a pool. I give it 1.33 seasons. This year will be crappy, we'll be in the lottery again. ClusterChuck will do another aggressive retool next summer, then they'll come out flat again and Comcast will fire the lot of them.
Not going to happen. Torts wasn’t my first choice but there is almost no chance we don’t make playoffs with him in first year.

"Way over the hill?"
Torts looks far healthier than AV or Trotz.
He's got that "lean and hungry look."

Drawing a blank - who is NRD?

If this is true, it should have been done before he extended Risto for eternity, botched the Giroux trade, and just...whatevered...this coaching process. Why does he still exist? Just do it immediately.

A major reason why I don't believe it is it makes no sense for him to not be fired right now if true. Then again, a major reason I believe it is true, is keeping his over-powerful carcass floating around is so stupid that of course they'd do it.

soooo.. if that is indeed the case, would it be fair believe that these so called consultants were actually casting a wider net than just identifying a suitable coaching candidate? ASF mentions Cuck not being on board with the hire.. perhaps this is only a small part of it.

Perhaps their report did spell out several clear deficiencies to Scott, specific to Cuck, and the cronies are going to take the opportunity to pile on to save their own skins? Is Office Space and the two Bobs, “what would you say, you do here?” be very fitting to use here?

We'll find out if the Risto deal was his doing if he's fired.
As far as Giroux, Giroux basically botched his own trade by insisting on Florida, then found out that Karma is a bitch.

Not that Colorado would have given a lot more, Byram and Newhook were off the table, and they didn't have other prospects that were much better than Tippett. Barron? Helleson? Colorado's 2022 1st is going to be 31 or 32nd, I'd rather take my chances with Florida's 2024 1st.

Clarke using and abusing and then sacrificing the dessicated husk of yet another crony before inevitably heaping public scorn upon him?

It would be in-character!

I think it comes down to timing, and this consultant report. I don’t think it’s a stretch, as I just mentioned above, to think there is more to just finding a fit for the coaching job. I’m betting during the process, it became more and more clear for a non-hockey mind like Scott (with help from the advisors) that he needs to can Cuck.

Fletcher botched the trade by insisting he won't entertain bringing Giroux back and thus slashing the number of teams available, before also leaking that and destroying his leverage somehow. Or he outright targeted a poor asset because he sucks and values sucky things.

There is no version of events that makes Fletcher look good.
