Listened to BSH radio on my Friday drive, then STG on my Sunday drive back.

There's only one conclusion - Charlie and ASF need to create their own podcast together.

They're the only two with actual information, they can talk intelligently about things, and I think they differ enough in their views that it would be a good listen.

Interestingly enough, both with different viewpoints on how to build the team moving forward. ASF is quite anti rebuild. Charlie just opens laughs at how dumb they are lately. The vibe I get anyway.

The only two really worth listening. Flyers Daily feels like a propaganda machine.

Plus STG and BSH hate each other so it would never happen anyways.

I have a hard time with Russ. For a pretty little dude he always seems to be wanting to pick a fight, or sound extra tough.
I think Russ is a very talented host. Frankly, one of the best sports podcast hosts out there, in my opinion. And I say that despite disagreeing with him more times than not.

He's got a very quick wit and intentionally stirs the pot a bit to keep things from getting monotonous. Definitely influenced by his pro wrestling fandom, and that's a good thing for the role, but he doesn't go too over the top with it.

Nahhh that’s totally fair. He gives off a shit disturber vibe to me lol.

Matz will always be my boy for the postgame call in’s - had quite a bit of fun with those this last season.

I can’t listen to STG. ASF comes across (on twitter and on the podcast) as a condescending, know-it-all, asshole. Life is too short for me to willingly subject myself to people like that. Russ seems comes across as a tool too.

I tried right up until Therien was ranting and raving about how broken the franchise is and saying that they need to bring someone in to fix it and he knew exactly who it should be. That person? Bob Clarke.

Turned it off right there and haven't listened since.

The cognitive dissonance that was going on there was mind blowing. If his complaints were actually genuine about the team and telling it like it is it would be enjoyable to listen to. However, it's just built on a foundation of the idea in his head that the organization did him dirty and he's pissed about it.

Big "notice me, senpai" energy from that one. Seriously, he might as well just stand outside the WFC with a boombox playing "In Your Eyes."

Therien hasn't been on the past 3 weeks. Not sure if he will return as a regular, or occasional guest.

Just listened to Flyers Daily.

Myrtetus said, "Quite a few teams around the NHL . . . have been hiring third-party companies to come in and help develop a vetting process. Which you have to consider now more than ever before, because we've had some pretty high-profile situations, whether it's Joel Quenneville and what he knew . . . We have what's going on in Chicago or other markets . . . These things that help you kind of dig all of the skeletons out of the past, to make sure when you make a hire you make it with full confidence that you got the guy and you know everything about him and you're not gonna have any surprises."

Meltzer said he thinks this kind of process will become the norm, and mentions Jim Montgomery's still-pretty-recent off-ice problem as probably working against him.

So, maybe NRD was referring to Corporate Dave and Corporate Comcast pulling the totally Corporate move of hiring a consulting firm to help run the coaching search. Hopefully it was only for the purpose of background checks and not leading the show, but we're talking Comcast here.

He’s got that gig with ice wars. He let little snippets of info out here, and there.

While his suggestions at times are questionable he’s most definitely in the pro full rebuild group. He does good work with alch addiction stuff, so he’s a decent guy in my book.

Russ is either throwing out his shoulder from patting himself on the back or crying because someone doesn't like him on Twitter. He says he doesn't care about people not liking him, then spends 10 minutes whining about how he doesn't care. IMO, he doesn't offer anything you don't find on message boards and fan-run podcasts. I usually skip through his nonsense.

I'd love to see a more rough around the edges "Broadcaster's Round Table" with ASF and Charlie. I feel like they have the sources, contacts and knowledge to make it a fun informed discussion, but do away with the sanitized approach that you get with Meltzer, Coatesy, and Saunders.

I can see why he's not everyone's cup of tea, but I've tried listening to plenty of sports podcasts, and I can't make it through most because they are either too dry -- no personality at all -- or too nerdy.

Russ jazzes it up a little, makes me laugh, makes clever transitions. I think he's highly skilled. Being a little annoying keeps it interesting. His job is not only to structure the podcast, but to make sure it has some entertainment value rather than sound like boring journalists droning on or a a roundtable of geeks nerding out.

But, that's just me.

I think if it comes down to Trotz or Torts, I'd prefer Torts.
Both coaches are in their 60s, so transition becomes as important as instant success.

Trotz is not going to take this team to the Cup in the next couple years. And he definitely has a thing for forechecking scrubs in his bottom six, nor is he known for cultivating young players.

Torts seems to be better with young players and cultivates his assistant coaches.

Trotz might be the better "win now" coach, Trots the better "win after me" coach.

I think ASF’s sources are from the old guard within the organization. I think Charlie‘s is more from Fletcher’s side. I’m just speculating of course but just the way they frame things it seems that way.

I'll begrudgingly agree, although I think that is much more about my apathy and openness for maximum chaos with this organization. Plus, one would think that the more desperate coaching hire would come with fewer personnel demands. Whatever accelerates the path to recognition about the horrid state of the franchise and the many significant changes needed to turn this leaking oil tanker around is okay with me.

And if there is some entertainment along the way with Tortorella yelling at people who should be yelled at, that is some icing on the cake-like substance.
