Can't give him 8 years no matter what. Wasn't on the team at the trade deadline.
Thank you for giving me hope! That's the best news I've had all year!

Honestly, I'm starting to lean that we might go for Montgomery just because of him going deeper into the playoffs now with his PP and PK being successful with the Blues. I feel like he has the kind of experience that would be good for the people on this team. A coach that can help lift up the team to be better over time and knows what it can take to be winners. Not saying he's a guaranteed cup, but it feels like he might be someone that could help this team overall.
The best thing about Montgomery is that he is the guy who named the Legion of Doom line.

"The lottery is rigged," is just the macro "the refs hate the Flyers." The most loser energy imaginable.
Lottery ain't rigged, but it's a loser's strategy.

Most of the teams that eventually worked it, took almost a decade to become competitive.
The odds you're gonna pull off a "Pens" and land Crosby, Malkin, Fleury and Letang are slim and none.

The teams that make it work land a couple players with high picks but build a roster around later picks, trades, FAs and waiver wire acquisitions - teams that keep picking in the lottery have fundamental flaws in their player acquisition strategy. Like Edmonton or NJ.

wait till we get "Yeo is coming back..."

Time for the Wells Fargo Center to have the lowest attendance in its history throughout the year.

The thing is, while Scott is an oblivious asshole to how the team is doing, Scott isn't oblivious to losing money. Money talks. Yeo will keep more people away than bring in. The fact that Chuck WANTS Yeo to stay around for some reason or have some standing offer shows how f***ed we are with this management.

it's obvious this pathetic organization places more emphasis on friendships than it does on performance. if you're a Flyer alumni or part of the "ol' boys club" you're set for life.

it's a horrible way to run a professional sports franchise.

Old habits die hard. The Flyers were built on physical play and hard work since they never were the most skilled club in the League. During the BSB days, Montreal had the most skill. During later eras the Oilers and Wings out skilled them. That old style of play won the city and filled the arenas.
It won’t work now but getting the FO to move from what they see as success won’t happen quickly or easily. Building skill into the lineup will take time. However the unwillingness to compete for the puck all over the ice at all times can be quickly remedied by a coach that won’t tolerate anything less than that. If the Flyers do that, I think that the fans will be patient as the skill base grows.

Who cares if Yeo gets a job in the organization? He's an experienced, knowledgeable hockey guy, not a great HC, but there have been far worse, he took two Minn teams to the 2nd rd, helped turn St Louis around, and kept the young players on an even keel in a cluster--- of a season. He's not Peters or Colliton, really bad HCs.

Flyers have been trying to add skill, TK, Sanheim, Farabee, Frost, York, Zamula, traded for Ellis and Atkinson.

Ideally, there's a balance between the ole physical Flyers and the ice capade Leafs who got knocked out in the 1st rd five straight seasons.

One reason I look forward to Wisdom and Desnoyers is they may have that balance, along with Cates. If you can add a bunch of guys like that to your lineup, you only need a few high skilled players to balance it out. Lindblom, before cancer, was one of those guys, hopefully he can finally make it back 100% next year.

the fact that tampa won the cup without stamkos tells how much coaching and goaltending matters. i mean the kings didnt have superstar forwards when they won their cups twice.

Yes. This is true. I would watch this. Not the absolute trash show that is Yeo. He was brought in to coach defense. They got worse. Fail. Took over as head coach - epic fail. Build culture? How about demanding the things Renberg mentioned? Not a chance with Yeo and crew.

Does anyone want to tell him that Tampa drafted Point, Kucherov, Hedman, Vasilevskiy, etc?

Might blow his mind, since he thinks you're not supposed to build through the draft.

I bet a few people on this forum think the Flyers with Kevin Hayes, Keith Yandle and Ristolanien can compete with that.

I don't even expect anyone to answer this but if you look at the Flyers roster you can't honestly think the Flyers are competitive. How are they going to get through Tampa, Pittsburgh, Carolina, Florida, or hell even Washington in the next two to three years? You also might want to go look at the Devils roster....

I mean that Rangers one for Lafreniere was though

I think you're mistaking the shutting off the machine with how the machine works to pull a single ball up.

There's a few buttons on there. One likely to turn the air pump off and another that upon clicking it creates a venturi like effect and pulls a single ball up. It's easy to say it's rigged when you (or I) for that matter don't understand how the machine effectively operates.

We have like 3 total top line or top pair players on the entire team. That's horrendous.

We also have like 10 players we should actively be trying to get rid of.

Worst GM in the league and things aren't getting better any time soon.

Because Yeo sucks and didn't do anything of note worthy to justify his job. He's Lappy 2.0

Trading for skill by trading Voracek for Atkinson? I'm sorry but Voracek is clearly the better player but Voracek can be lazy on the defensive side if you ask me.

None of those players are going to be the difference makers you think they are.

We have 3? I'm not sure that's even the case. Couturier is as far as I'm concerned is pandora's box at the moment. He could have back issues and be a shell of a player. Remember that guy VLC? Yeah.

We don't even have a PPG player on this roster. We aren't competing.

I'd say Couturier, TK, and Sanheim are either top line or top pair players.

Ellis doesn't count until he plays 10 games in a row.

And people don't realize how badly we're going to miss Giroux. This team got infinitely worse.

I'm hesitant to say TK is. I'd say borderline top line winger.

Totally with you on Ellis. He has to play actually play to have merit.

This team is going to flounder on the power play. I'll be shocked if they don't finish bottom 5 there. I'm not sure why anyone thinks the PK is going to magically improve as well but I'll wait and see on that.

Add Couturier back and Ellis and I'll say this is a bottom 10 team.
