Wouldn't expect fighting to endear Seeler to Torts.

His first full season in CBJ, not one player had 100 PIM, highest was Dubinsky 91 and Anderson 89.
but Dubinsky had 248 hits, Jenner 216, Foligno 157, Anderson 147, Savard was high among D-men with 127.

next season, Foligno was high man with 50 PIM.
Jenner 205 hits, Foligno 182, Dubinsky 145, Dubois 127, Anderson 109, Savard 144, J Johnson 101.

So Torts expects his physical forwards to be physical, but notice these were all top 6/top 9, not 4th line specialists.
And when you hit people, do it cleanly, no cheap penalties.
And his D-men don't make a lot of hits, even the big physical types.

Gagner was 9th in ES time, just ahead of Hartnell, and fell to 10th once Bjorkstrand joined the team. Played on PP1.

Mark recchi is experienced available and has flyers connections. I'm thinking he's a pretty strong candidate for an offensive assistant.

If you want anenimic power play, he's your guy.

Chuck Fletcher seeing that like…

You wouldn't go to war with this lineup in a year or two?

Farabee - Couts - TK
LW TBN - C TBN - Brink/Foerster
Cates - Frost - Tippett/Allison
Laughton - Desnoyers - Wisdom
Lindblom, Lycksell, Laczynski

Provorov - RHD TBN
Sanheim - Attard
York - Risto
Andrae, Zamula
86 POINT 11 seed here we come with that roster .

To reach 95 point team most prospects would have to top out, develop at 90%+, stay healthy, and oh by the way not want to destroy their vet coach in the process. Oh and we are hoping rookie defenseman start off and are top 4 d-men? I can have a good hope York can be a top 4 right away. I can pray Attard is a top 4 right away. But to expect, ummmm

There is not one top 75 nhl player on that roster. Maybe in dream scenario Farabee is a top 75 player in time. But you can't expect that. Couts is not a top 75 player as of today. Not with his injuries. We can hope he stays healthy plays 80 games and bounces back and returns to top 75. Provorov is just not a top 75 player period.

You cannot win in the NHL without a batman.
Semi-Finals top players
McD
McK
Pan
Kucherov/Stamkos

no 1 d-men in semis
Hedman
Makar
Fox
Edm no batman d just 1 overrated top 2, 2 very nice kids, 1 pp specialist, and a bunch of the rest

Bleep, the flyers couldn't even compete with a fading batman in G.

We have not one player in the same solar system as those players.

Now that's cheating, Hextall was the GM to start that 82 point season, Fletcher was only on board for the fire sale.
Hextall was there for 23 games.....Fletch 59. Flyers were 10-11-2 when Hextall was fired.....they were 4 games under. 500 when Fletch made his 1ST trade in mid-Jan. ..they finished 37-37-8.

Fletch had plenty of time to turn things around as they were only 5 points out of a playoff spot when he was hired. They finished 16 games out.

And his firesale was trading Weal, Leier, Weise, Folin, Stolarz and Simmonds. Only Simmonds wasn’t a 4th liner/3rd pairing/3rd stringer or worse. And as I recall, you said those players don't matter.

Last three seasons, all forwards (1500+ 5x5 minutes):
Farabee 48th in pp/60
TK 50th
Couts 58th, despite last season, and a Selke to boot

Jake 66th, JVR 90th, G 104th

Who else was on an expiring contract?
It's very difficult to trade veterans with term at the TDL?

He said he wanted a PP coach that could help out with the offensive side of the game in general because he’s out of his realm in that area of the game.

Just what the 31st ranked offense needs after losing Giroux. A HC who can't fix that, being helped by an AC hired by a dude who sucks goats at hiring or understanding offense.

Keep moving those chains to protect Fletch!

Also who cares is they have term or expiring, since Fletch opts to re-sign most expiring instead of trading them even as a non playoff team. The Cuck way!

4th worst team in the league after 3.5 years under his watch. Don’t worry though, in 2 years....

Is a coach saying he doesn't understood offense good???

It's not bad, especially when he's saying he welcomes help and is saying he wants input from players.
I get a good vibe, and as long as most players put in the effort, i think it works out.

Im sure a few players will get bumps along the way tho

Holy revisionist history…I just read through his extension thread, everyone agreed with the decision and liked the term/price

Eh, personally I was open to a plan that involved trading both Couturier and Giroux for a haul, but then Chuck went out and did the Ghost-Risto nonsense and I realized that wasn't going to be an option. I worry a lot about Couturier's contract. He's a smart player and that doesn't go away, but he's almost 30 and already has a lot of wear and tear on him.

I'm not sure what the point of the screenshot is, because it certainly doesn't support the idea that @FlyerNutter is being revisionist.

He was perhaps more forceful in his recent post, but otherwise is entirely consistent.
"That Couturier contract was such nonsense, by a desperate team."

Cmon now

The overwhelming sentiment on this board AND the main board is that we just sealed a contract for Bergeron 2.0. Sure people disagreed, but there was no Risto type chemical reaction or even a split opinion. No one disagreed with the term or the money

And yet, he's entirely consistent in both posts expressing concern about the contract and that it would have been better to trade him. That's not a new take from him. He's been way ahead of the curve on needing to tear the whole thing down to the ground, so your revisionism accusation is nonsense.

I mean that part sure - but calling it "That Couturier contract was such nonsense, by a desperate team." is not what the poster said last year

So he was more restrained in his criticism last summer and decidedly less so now. That's hardly revisionist, and I can't imagine what turn of events could have transpired between now and then for the gloves to come off.

If it’s really that important to you, again - feel free to believe that. Signing him was something concerning in relation to age/hard mileage, but more so the lack of awareness for how far off this team really is.

It’s not a horrific contract value wise, but the haul a competent GM would have been able to get for him to truly nurture a rebuild would have been a beautiful thing.

Alas, here we are. If you still find yourself needing to relax a little more, here is a lovely shot from yesterday big guy.
