no impact prospects and a pool filled with enough smurfs to make Willie Wonka jelly

so how long will it take the new GM to turn this ship around or is it so bad we have to gut the team and start over

He unfortunately managed the team from one column on his financial statements, the expense column and could never get past it.

Well stated. He was also an egotistical old fart, who thought he knew more about hockey than the people in charge. See Roger Nielsen as an example. A brilliant coach, ahead of his time, blended skill and grit as a philosophy. As did two to follow later in Burns and Quinn.

You left off 16 and 34. Won't get much of anything for 16, and 34 is gone in few years anyway. Taveras, you cannot move now, no trade or not. Muzzin is tire fire right now, but that is more Holl than Muzz. Play Muzz w/Lily. The bottom 3 are gone this year anyway.
Trade 16 for a coffee and a bag of pucks. The media and fans are going to ride him out of town anyway.
Trade 34 for the King's Ransom you will get for him. You most likely will get a top 3 forward, top prospect and a first round pick. He is gone once his 5 is up anyway. Doubt very much he will want to stay in this fishbowl much longer. Media focusing as much on his fashion sense as his play. Give me break.

i left 16/34 off because they have value

Holl is trash but Muzzin's poor play is on Muzzin , he's lost another step which has left him to slow to keep up with the play

I'd say of the team flounders up until Christmas and it does have the potential for it, you can see Shanahan removing Dubas from his post. One in my opinion he should have never held. Guys a joke, the way this team is constructed is a joke. We are on a much better path a few years back, with Lou here, Hunter and Babs this team started to look like it had the men to take this team to a cup final. Now? Squandering assets like Kadri for Kerfoot, wasted picks......what a joke.

But there are different ways to score and come the playoffs, the pretty goals don’t happen as much as the heavy forecheck, puck battle, to the net, get your team in deep and control the zone goals.

Teams aren’t going to let you score and dangle the same way as game 25.

I mean, we've gone from, 100% guarantee won't make the playoffs, to talk to me if they win a playoff round... that's one heck of an upgrade, that for now, I'm happy to take. Given your propensity to be well off the mark, it bodes well for the Leafs playoff chances this year.

The best part of this is that this team is not riding an unsustainable hot streak of any player or group of players. A very, very solid D corps, and the most depth at forward of any team since Tampa or Pittsburgh won. And we know Campbell is the real deal. Leafs lead the league in ROW. Suck it, haters.
