Bless you for asking @GordonHowe . Gave me an excuse to listen to a few of these a couple of times today!!

Bit of a sad connected history. Justin Townes Earl is the son of Steve Earl. Steve Earl (who had his own heroin/opiate issues) was very good friends with Townes Van Zandt (who has his own heroin/opiate issues). Steve Earl's ex wife did not like TVZ one bit because he tended to get Steve Earl into such trouble. TVZ died at the age of 52 -- technically of natural causes but clearly a result of years and years and years of heavy hard use of his body. Sadly Justin Townes Earl (who had his own heroin/opiate issues and was named after Van Zandt) died of an accidental overdose of ---- as if we have to guess these days...... cocaine laced with fentanyl.

Which one?

I believe Steve's been married like 7 times.

I don't enjoy the Dave Matthew Band.
I don't either. Just one of those voices that doesn't do it for me.

That said, I realize he's talented. Just kind of like blue cheese for me. Others like it, I politely decline.

I’m still shocked when I talk to people (and there are plenty of them) who don’t enjoy the Dave Matthews Band.

This came on one of my XM presets on the way home from work the other day and I was doing the drums on the steering wheel in no time.

Extremely talented...

Agree with others...the voice can be annoying.

Carter Beauford is unreal...one of my favourite drummers ... here he is playing 2 Step.

@jgatie reminding Mr. Number 8 of what it was like as a young adolescent to listen to Whipped Cream and think ”you know, my Dad has some cool cool music”. I really liked it.

And then………. I looked at the cover closely. Really closely. And I thought “no….check that….. I love this music”

That beautiful young lady wasn’t wearing a white dress….. she was covered in whipped cream!!!:laugh::oops::laugh::oops:

I was a big fan of Soul Asylum back when I was in High School/College: I had no idea this album cover was a parody at the time it was released.......

Mrs. Number 8 and my wedding song......

It certainly wasn't a new song at the time we got married, but even so... a feeew years ago now.

I was punching way out of my weight class then.... and still am.

Sounds like... a Burt Bacharach tune. And looking up, it is. Love Burt's stuff.

Here's a fabulous collaberation between Burt and Elvis, from the soundtrack of a favorite, Grace of My Heart (1996), which, with many liberties taken, is essentially the Carol King story,

I was about to add

You and me both @GordonHowe . Love Burt Bacharach. Great songwriter.

Couple of great Burt songs from Austin Powers. One with Pixies and one with Elvis Costello.

Bruce opened his first tour since 2016 tonight at Amalie Arena.

“Your Own Back Yard” is Dion DiMucci’s autobiographical reflection about his addiction to alcohol and drugs, as he describes it “kicking junk.” His marriage with his wife, Susan, was on the rocks. In 1966 his first daughter, Tane DiMucci, was born. An addict, Dion was unable to be the kind of parent his daughter needed and his wife counted on. His heroin addiction was expensive. Even though he had become a successful teen idol by the age of 19, the ghosts of a troubled upbringing and spending a lot of time on the streets from the age of 14 had caught up with him. Dion had a religious experience in 1968 and was determined to get off drugs and alcohol. After he finally got off heroin in 1968, and left his drug habit behind, Dion began to volunteer at local hospitals counseling heroin addicts. He also became a better husband and a better father after going straight and freeing himself from his addictions. - Ray McGiniss Vancouver Pop Music

Springsteen's wife.

Scond commandment of show business is never open for an act better than you. Of course, the third one is never open for Robert Goulet.
Won't pretend to be in on that joke.

I actually bought Tattoo You when it came out. ('81). The critics were not especially kind to their 1980 follow up to Some Girls ('78), Emotional Rescue.

It was cringeworthy then, and remains so,

Fave rave from Tatoo You,

Finally, saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome for that tour. Iggy opened for them. Iggy, who is from Ann Arbor. They threw beer bottles at him.
