I’ve seen all but a handful of Ghibli films, and yesterday I watched one I hadn’t seen — from 1995. I’ve got to say, it’s in the upper echelon. I read it was maybe the most underrated, but I really wasn’t expecting it to be quite as good as it was, especially in its subtleties and characters. The fantastical action elements really amount to 5 minutes of the main character writing a book. It’s more a slice of life, coming of age story about a teenager in modern Tokyo navigating school, writing, relationships.

Nice recommendation! Just watched

I think the dub is the only version available on HBO, unless I'm a fool. Agree that it wasn't bad. Maybe a bit awkward at times?

Th Child and I are both sick. And so we watch Princess Bride
I hope it’s nothing.
The princess bride? Isn’t she like 3 or 4? How do you manage to trick her into watching shit that is enjoyable?
I tried having #2 watch rookie of the year since he loves playing tball and they didn’t care one bit that it was on.

Don’t just like this. Tell me your secrets to watching something enjoyable rather than the same movie for the 1000th time

I'm watching No Blood Relation from 1932 and the camera work in this is pretty amazing for the era. Highly dynamic and active camera work and editing. Feels more like modern film than almost any silent film you're likely to find.
