The bad guys was a pretty good kids movie.

Kids are watching Enchanto right now, my daughter just asked if the moms food heals anything, why does Mirabel need to wear glasses?

Took the little one to see it yesterday. We enjoyed it. Having Sam Rockwell voice the Wolf certainly helped.

I’ve seen all but a handful of Ghibli films, and yesterday I watched one I hadn’t seen — from 1995. I’ve got to say, it’s in the upper echelon. I read it was maybe the most underrated, but I really wasn’t expecting it to be quite as good as it was, especially in its subtleties and characters. The fantastical action elements really amount to 5 minutes of the main character writing a book. It’s more a slice of life, coming of age story about a teenager in modern Tokyo navigating school, writing, relationships.

It really is a great film. We saw it for the first time at Ghiblifest several years ago not knowing what to expect and really enjoyed it.

It took me until the credits to realize it was him and not Owen Wilson. As soon as I saw his name in the credits it clicked.

HBO Max has every Ghibli movie. I just got it this month.
Doesn't disney as well? Thought they were the us distributor.

Also, if you know anyone, i would pay good money to have someone combine the fox audio with the Totoro blu-ray video.

They haven't been since 2017. GKids handles that now. But Warner owns Ghibli's streaming rights in North America. They were very against streaming for years.

Whisper of the Heart had a pretty fantastic dub too fwiw.

Dubs are the literal Devil. I know you know this.

In many cases, yes. But I always watch the dubbed Ghibli films. It's how I grew up watching them, and almost every single one in the Disney/GKid era is a fantastic dub because the people who make them care a lot. I lose not an iota watching the Ghibli dubs.

A good dub is also important if you're watching with your niece who can't read.

Haha, I didn’t think of that! I think I was too mad about how much Mirabel was getting disrespected

I feel like I’ve been waiting 3 years for this new Top Gun movie. If I don’t hear Kenny Loggins at least once during the film I will be extremely disappointed

@Magua hurry up Night Of The Hunter is on

I will randomly break out my Robert Mitchum impression where he calls to the kids from outside after he kills their mother: “Childreeeeeeeen. Chilllllll-dren!

This is one of my favorite shots in all of film:

This was the only movie Charles Laughton directed in his life. I don’t think there’s a better one-off. The full on Huck Finn last act is kinda nuts too, with Lillian Gish.

That scene, and the screened porch nighttime showdown, are two of my favorite scenes easily and if asked on the spot what my favorites are, these are probably the two I'd think of first.

The porch scene just happened.
