Looking at the Red Wings roster...

That is why if I ever did this again trading would be severely limited. I wanted people to be able to have some recourse in case the guy they really wanted was about to be picked, and they were willing to give up value in later rounds to get him. Or a guy you want will probably last a little longer, to trade down and add a little value later.

The way it is now, it's really spamming trades until you increase value in any area. Do that enough times and you get to draft a great 3rd line center as your 4th C, while your top 9, top 4 and G are filled out nicely. RandV I think it was, was correct. The trade sharks would win this game by doing this.

I am not upset with VanillaCoke or the other guys that have used this strategy. I left the hole open and it was exploited. I personally don't have the time or energy to negotiate as many trades as you guys have. Or maybe people just don't seem to want to trade with me. My general reaction was no one wants to be the one to offer the first actual trade.

It was usually:

Me - "I'm interested in X player/pick, what would it take?"
Them - "I dunno, make me an offer"
Me - "Well let me know who on my team you like/which picks you want to move to"
Them - "I dunno, make me an offer"
Me - "Ok, how about a+b for x+y"
Them - "Nah, I'll just keep my player/pick."

I even had someone say, after I asked them to make an offer; "I don't operate that way".

So I don't know how you guys get so many trades done. :dunno:

Still need Colorado, Dallas, Carolina, NY Islanders and NY Rangers to post their rosters in the Rosters Thread.

For the record Detroit doesn't have his top pairing filled out, doesn't have a #1 RD. But yes he has built up some value through trades.

Good drafting trumps all. The two player trade I made was with you on Sheahan and with canuckking1 with Huberdeau plus picks for Eriksson and Boychuk

even without these trades I would still like my chances with my team.

Passed on some big blockbusters with radim too

edit: 94eleven is completely right. I like Vanilla's later picks but not huge on his early ones. He could have gotten more value via trades or kept his players if he gotten the right players in rounds 1-6. Defense is really lacking

Because some put more time and effort into trades isnt a reason why trades are detrimental to this or any draft.
You get what you give.
I spent 4 hours with radim on that last trade, we're entitled to the value that putting that time in entails imo.

Sounds rather like bitter jealousy tbh.

Honestly aside from ahmon's brilliant trades and manoeuvring.. a lot/nearly all of these trades don't necessarily make a team better.

The ones that do make sense are trading away picks but then people use them on bizarre players which negates the value.

Again drafting and predicting where #1 Cs, #2 Cs, #3 Cs, defensemans, wingers, goalies would go in any which rounds is the biggest advantage. Price at 2nd overall and Franson in the 10th are questionble but I really like the Ennis, and Nelson picks

OK...

Like I said, I'm am not upset with anyone that used this strategy. I'm just saying it was not the purpose I intended when allowing trades. That is all.

I like My early picks much better.
Ive never done a draft like this and had a specific idea going in, thats changed over time with the trades made.

Sounds like u think trades have have been exploited to garner disproportionate value to a few ppl.
And youre upset at not being able to get value yourself.

When really thats not the case.
As was pointed out my right D is one rookie so apparent forward value is really negated by defensive deficiencies.

I'm not upset at all. :dunno:

Coming in I didn't expect to make any trades at all. I didn't think many would be made overall either.

Whats the point of limiting.
How would it make this draft better better the next time?

That way people who aren't interested in trading won't be at a big disadvantage. If they don't trade at all, people like you can only trade 3 times to keep it fair.

Basically you would have 3 shots to give yourself an advantage. Not unlimited times.

Its not a big disadvantage as was illustrated earlier.
If you dont want to trade dont. Or dont sign up to a draft with trades.
