Got their act together in the 2/3rd - defense settled down and stopped running around like headless chickens.
I thought all 4 lines played well as the game wore on -
Top 6 looks well balanced and this should provide some breathing room for Scheif and Wheels.
Ehlers is doing what he does best - his zone entries are a thing of beauty and will make this line more than a cycle squad (as you seen tonight). Wheels and Scheif need to figure out how to play with a guy like this - he's backing off defenders and opening up a ton of space - both of these guys need to find that space. Wheelers best bet is to head for the net - Scheif should be setting up for the shot. When they figurer it out, look out.
Stastny is a calming force out there - his wingers are going to have a lot of fun playing with him. He's never out of position and doesn't try to do too much. Laine and KC look very comfortable with each other and Stast's just lets them do their thing. I was really impressed with how well this line gelled considering the short camp.
We have a lot of fire power with this top 6 and when they are skating, they will be hard to handle -
The bottom half of the line up is all work - they are not going to contribute much on the scoreboard but they will wear you out. If Copp and Lowry can develop any scoring touch, they would be a force to deal with. They seem to have the puck a lot in the O zone - they just don't know what to do with it.
The 4th line is safe -
I look forward to seeing more of the Laine we watched tonight - he makes me shake my head sometimes. When he wants to dominate, he does - I just hope he does it often and can stay motivated. He can obviously move his feet as shown in OT tonight - do it more often and he will live up to his potential. He's off to a great start - keep it up
