Any update on Kreider? Hope hes OK.

And if he is, that hit should serve as a wake up call that hes not in the AHL anymore and cant be fishing for pucks through the middle.

I really like this kid but i don't think he is ready at all. If he cuts a chance to use his speed or find some open ice he is very very impressive. Other then that i don't see him playing NYR quality hockey. Then again in these last 2 games neither was the rest of the team. I will still hold my judgements.

I don't see how it is a bad line. besides disagreeing with the quality of the line he is playing against (more times then not) the same quality of line on the opposing team. I don't dislike the kid but i feel people need to take the blinders off. He is ultra fast and that is a huge weapon for us but he needs to be more then that.

Playing defense has little to do with what line you're on. I still think the kid has 30 goal upside, but until he rounds out his defensive game, he needs to be honing his skills in Hartford. Our window with Gaborik and Nash is too small to hope that he can find his game in a shortened season.

Cant give up on him after 2 damn games. Especially when most of his team is playing just as bad. I never said he is a star or he could create on his own but he could be a real useful player if they put him in better situations

Let's start with the fact that his center cannot carry, stickhandle or pass the puck effectively. He is being asked to play a checking role which is not his strength. I'm not saying he would be great in the top 6 but I think he should be given that opportunity and if he fails send him to Hartford not to purgutory (a line centered by Brian Boyle).

I still dont get the protection boyle gets from some fans, I have no personal problem with boyle but why does he get so much loyalty especially since he hasnt played well

haha at this hate on boyle. He was the only one putting pucks in nets against OTT in the play offs. Did magic on the PK most of last year. Wins important face offs all the time. I am not some super fan of his by any stretch but he is a very good thirdline man.

Everyone knows what Brian Boyle is. He has a role, and does it fairly well. To have a Rick Nash, Brad Richards, and Marian Gaborik, you need to have a Brian Boyle.

More importantly, why would you go into a Chris Kreider thread and bash Boyle while completely ignoring Kreider had some time with everyone last night and the most noticeable thing he did was get knocked a bit silly?

Well first off i never bashed boyle at all in fact i said he played better last night. Secondly i also said kreider needs to work on some things but i think if put in better situations he will be more productive because he has the talent and the ceiling

Yeah, No. He can be a good 4th line center with certain improvements. He loses important faceoffs all the time too and magic is not something he's capable of. Sometimes he has extreme puck luck and scores a few. But, he's not good. But that's never been my issue. My issue is how he's used, like late in games down by a goal or on a line with a rookie who has shown the potential to fill the net. All of my BB rants are directed at Torts. Boyle does the best he can with what he has. It's his dopey coach who overrates him and hurts the team by misusing him.

I will completely agree he is misused at times. I feel you are making a bit of a mountain out of a mole hill here. I do think if Kreider could get the puck deep into the zone with his speed and give Boyle a chance to get in front of the net and use his big ass to screen and grind on guys we could see that line make some much needed scoring. I will agree i think the third line is being misused but with who is on that line i don't see why it cant be a second/third rate version of what Hags Richards and Gabby where doing at the end of the season last year. I am not thinking or expecting them to be able to do it anywhere near as well or effective but they arent being matched with top 6 guys. They should be able to be better then they are. I know it is only two games and i am far from giving up hope or yelling out in defeat. I think once we hit our stride we will see some 5 game streaks going. I just see this year being keirder getting some leasons the hard way after some huge hits and beatings. I would LOVE to be wrong but i feel he is in the NHL a year to early and will preform very much like he has in these last two games through out the rest of the season. If he survives these lumps and improves with each one he will definitely live up to the hype he is getting. I have faith in 2013-14 season he makes the impact you all expect him to this year.

Hating on Boyle in the Kreider thread?

Fact of the matter is Kreider has been terrible his first two games in the league. Nothing to worry about, because remember people he is a ROOKIE, but let's stop pretending it's Brian Boyle (deserves no hate yet) and Taylor Pyatt (who has been good so far) who are keeping him down. He looks tentative, slow, undecisive, and just not engaged.

He's a rookie. He'll get better. But to act like Boyle and Pyatt are keeping Wayne Gretzky down is disrespectful because honestly, Kreider has shown one of the worst individual efforts of our forward group.

Uh-ha... and when I was saying it based on watching him game in and game out in Hartford, I was getting nothing but hate, being told that I only care about his stats, and don't understand that he's better suited for the NHL than lower levels. This is exactly what I wrote before: tentative, indecisive, poor individual effort, not engaged.

I agree that over the first two games Kreider has played poorly and it's nobody's fault but his own. However, i think it's fairly obvious that he cannot be the playmaker on his line. The 3rd line as currently constructed has no playmaker. He can be a force if his confidence grows. Playing on that line is not likely to accomplish that, and that hurts the team.

NA version of Magnus Paajarvi. World class talent, yet soft as butter and zero creativity.

Kredier doesn't fit with that line, just plain and simple.

Making statements like this because of half an AHL season and 2 bad NHL games is nuts.

That being said, I do hope he starts skating with some fire soon.

Based on his play this year, it's fairly accurate. I haven't been impressed with him in the AHL either. Still a long way to go though.
