You don’t want a 31 year old C with 6 points in 20 GP and 2 more years at 5.00!?I hope not. Don’t want another 3rd line player, even if he is a center.

I had similar thoughts about a week ago after reading this thread:Per AP’s article in The Athletic Sunday Gathering
• Kekäläinen remained in the New York metro area when the Blue Jackets flew to Raleigh after Friday’s win in New Jersey. He stuck around to do some scouting and was spotted at Saturday’s Islanders-Flyers game.
My thoughts - Could he be looking at Pageau - rumors are he is eyeing a center. We need a center with faceoff experience. Could have used him today for those defensive draws against Carolina. Although Lindholm is even better at faceoffs and rumors are he played well with Johnny Hockey.
Pageau for GudIf we had a new GM before this year's TDL who was willing to trade one of CBJ's worst contracts to NYI for Pageau+, can you imagine being ok with it?
31 years old, $5M AAV through 2025/26. Jackets could use his faceoff skills and defensive contribution?

Pageau for Gud
Pageau+pick(s) for Peeke/Boqvist
Pageau+picks for Laine
?????
Kind of hard to come up with a proposal that would make sense for both teams...
Good news for you, he'd be top 6 hereI hope not. Don’t want another 3rd line player, even if he is a center.
I don't expect the team to be very good right now given that they are largely a group of kids and relearning how to win as a group. That's somewhat separate for me from the Jarmo discussion, his decision making in the last couple years has been frighteningly bad.
You know theres still lot of fans with double standards and I’m pretty tired of it.
If he's doing anything he better be moving players not acquiring.Per AP’s article in The Athletic Sunday Gathering

Yea, he’s certainly better than Boone and Fantilli.Good news for you, he'd be top 6 here
So Steve has been getting his talking points from us?Craig Button was on the Steve Kouleas show on Sirius/XM NHL today and went off on this franchise woes and clearly put it on the front office.
Steve Kouleas asked about trades like Johnny G, Patrick L or Boone J. Craig said not with this front office. He elaborated this franchise woes are clearly on owner, hockey ops and gm. Steve then said Cole Sillinger only had 4 goals in the past 80 games. Craig said he doesn’t blame the player but the front office. He said the player doesn’t have the power to pick and choose whether they stay in the NHL or AHL. He said the NHL is not a league to learn you craft he gave the example would you go have knee surgery done by a 2nd year resident or a doctor who has done it many times before. He said blaming the players is the wrong approach when the front office hires coaches and assembles the roster. He said you can draft great but you don’t develop players.
Very scathing of the CBJ front office.
We are also 6 points from last in the league. Its been pretty sporadic, if we see more of what we did last night it would be a solid year of what is supposed to be us on our way out of a rebuild in managements eyesman if we didn't go on a 9 game heater we would be in a playoff spot lol! i think we get in the hunt by mid jan. teams getting better and better ( pretty solid for a rebuild year! )
So we just need to go on a 9-game win streak to balance it out.man if we didn't go on a 9 game heater we would be in a playoff spot lol! i think we get in the hunt by mid jan. teams getting better and better ( pretty solid for a rebuild year! )
We have played more games than anyone.man if we didn't go on a 9 game heater we would be in a playoff spot lol! i think we get in the hunt by mid jan. teams getting better and better ( pretty solid for a rebuild year! )
Maybe the answer is to continue drafting Russians who can continue to develop on the KHL before we get our hands on them
There's no way they aren't using something like Google translate. There's no excuse for staff around Voro to not be able to communicate. Google buds will translate in real time. Seems like an easy fix for coaching staff to be able to communicate with him without relying on other kids to properly communicate what they're trying to get across to himHopefully Aaron Johnson is spending a lot of time in his Duolingo app

The Blue Jackets are 9-15-5 heading into today’s game vs. the Florida Panthers, the seventh time in 23 seasons that Columbus has lost 20 or more of its first 30 games. This season, like so many others, is unlikely to have much meaning over the final few months.
Veteran players Johnny Gaudreau and Patrik Laine have massively underperformed, the Blue Jackets have blown several late leads, and they’ve already matched a franchise record earlier this season with a nine-game winning streak.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Kekäläinen said he expected the Blue Jackets to compete for a playoff spot, but they’re once again hovering near the bottom of the standings.
“I can say we’re all very frustrated,” Priest said. “We’re disappointed. Emotions are high among everyone. That’s just … nobody wants to be where we are with our record. That’s not what we expected. John (McConnell) is a fan. That family is a fan. Our ownership group is a fan. They share this frustration right along with the fans.
“But, from their perspective, you don’t manage in the public eye, and you don’t make decisions that get you where you want to go by making decisions when you’re angry. No, he’s not happy. They’ve been in business a long time, so they manage their anger. But they are certainly disappointed and frustrated by the results that we’re seeing right now.”
The owners’ statement, along with the phrase “for now,” has many wondering if McConnell is contemplating changes to his hockey operations department should the Blue Jackets not turn around their season.
“We’re not going to get into the evaluation publicly,” Priest said, “because that’s not fair.”
As far as blaming ownership for losing culture that has taken root in the Blue Jackets organization — they’ve won one playoff series and one postseason qualifying tournament in 22 seasons — Priest pushed back on that slightly.
He “absolutely believes” that culture starts at the top of the organization, he said, but pro sports is a unique business.
“It’s a challenge in professional sports, as I’ve learned because the team in the dressing room is kind of isolated from a lot of the rest of the organization,” Priest said. “That culture can be influenced by the people at the top, but it’s really influenced by the players who are leading them in that time.”

That quote gives me a bit of hope because it reads as if he's not trying to defend Jarmo and JD or indicating that there would be no front office changes in the near future. The owners’ statement, along with the phrase “for now,” has many wondering if McConnell is contemplating changes to his hockey operations department should the Blue Jackets not turn around their season.
