My biggest issue with Jarmo has been lack of centers. Seems to Be the biggest hole in our organization the whole time he’s been here . Going into the season I thought we would be a bottom 3-5 . The defense wasn’t much different than last year , still void of a #1, or #2 center . Having said all that , this organization has never had the amount of talent stockpiled as they do right now . And if we land Bedard, and Johnson is able to move to center , this organization could turn into a serious contender even quicker than anticipated . Porty seems to think Ryan Graves could be targeted . He was super impressed with the step Boquist has taken this year . He also thinks that some forwards are moved this off-season , with Texier returning , Voronkov coming over , and Chinakov signing a one way deal . Mentioned Robinson as a possible name to be moved . Last thing he mentioned is that Jarmo still feels Foudy should end up playing in the top 9, with ability to play up. They really like his game , and ability to carry the puck . Having said all that , if they leave this draft without landing a center with our first pick.. Jarmo should be fired on the spot :naughty:

I can't remember how to start a new thread (lol)...

I have health issues and might not be around much longer, that said, it's time for protest #2.... Seriously folks, I was a day one CBJ season ticket holder.. I knew Doug and many original players, Jeff Rimer knows me as well..

The Jackets are now the worst of the worst and close to the worst in NHL history... The problem as before is the same today, MIKE PRIEST!!!!! He still runs the CBJ... Davidson, Kek and Larson should have been fired long ago...

I'm embarrassed to tell the many I meet accross the USA I was a founding Blue Jacket season ticket holder!!!

This saddens me to great extent. I don't want to think of a season without you here.

I have to believe, Jarmo thought they'd be at least as good as 2021-22 (10th in the East) after adding Johnny and Gudbranson and growth from the kids.

That would have them around 20/22nd in the standings.

Young teams just can’t afford injuried and they were hit with the worst injury bug you could imagine.
In the 1st 10 games of the season Laine/Werenski/Voracek were gone

I hope that this prognosis ends up being wrong and that you’re around a good, long time, Robert.

Whether or not there’s ever another protest, I remember meeting you at the first one. You’re a Blue Jackets fan and there’s nothing to be embarrassed about that, of being a fan of your local hockey team. That’s what we do, and you know it.

I'm glad to see you're still around.

That said, I'm still personally dealing with the unpleasant consequences of my being against the original protest to this very day every time I get another phone call intended for some debt-skipping deadbeat in Mansfield or Marysville. There will not be another on my watch if I have anything at all to say about it.

Robert, here’s hoping the docs are wrong and you have a long, bright future ahead. Wishing you good fortune.

Even if they get Bedard, all the people in charge need to be gone. The team is getting worse while fighting to stay below the cap at the same time. Not sure what Jarmo has done to prove he can build a cup contender. And the coach offers nothing and Jarmo hired him.

Gotta be honest, the failure to tank this year and the awful choice at coach has to put Jarmo on the hot seat. I think he's been an above average drafter the last few years and has generally gotten more out of no win situations than I thought he would but we could have done much more to improve the future of this team and he chose to not go the full measure. He doesn't seem to appreciate the long term planning to actually build a cup capable team or is too worried about "culture" and not worried enough about talent and asset management.

Same goes for JD.

How has he been failing to tank?
They are missing like 15 players.

It’s full on AHL defense+ goaltending and the worst C group in the league.

Their goal was to be worse for couple of years and plenty of tanking/rebuilding teams are close to the cap.

They’ve done elite job at stacking up the asset/prospect pool.

Jiricek, Johnson, Svozil, Dumais, Marchenko look like awesome picks.

For me it's mostly in comparison to what the other teams i.e. the Ducks and Hawks have done. Some of those late-game collapses and losses appeared to be executed intentionally from taking excessive penalties to shifts and altered playing time (although I will freely admit I am no expert). If I am correct that likely means that management has told the coach that the goal is a high draft pick and their job is to manage the team in such a way as to prevent points. We haven't taken that step and I think that is bad management although I can respect the opposite opinion regarding culture and player buy in. I guess I would expect grown men and professionals to understand when a strategy and priority shifts and be able to recommit themselves to winning when it matters again.

The one I’m most ready to be gone is JD. Screw him and his fallback option job.

First I fire JD.

Then I sit down with Jarmo and ask him what his long range plan is. I ask him why we are where we are with centers, defense, goalies, etc. Unless he absolutely wows me with thoughtful answers that show great introspection as well as an insightful discussion of mistakes he has made and what he has learned from them, I fire Jarmo. (I fully expect to fire Jarmo at this point.)

If Jarmo hasn’t fired Larsen already, I fire Larsen.

I have a thoughtful hockey mind (or two or three) interview the entire staff and all the players and prepare a report. From there I make further decisions on who gets fired. Some guys (Legace) are 99% gone before the evaluation is done, but a few people may be able to save their jobs.

I hire an outside firm to investigate how the team trains and prepares and the firm reports back on why the Jackets seem to have so many injuries.

1 playoff series win in 10 years

New set of eyes to evaluate prospects already in the system and future picks

He's had more than a fair chance and the results are not there

I'd fire Jarmo and Josh Flynn

He couldn't even orchestrate the tank right until the last game. I'd shed no tears if he was gone. But I think that is just a pipe dream.

You can’t force Gaudreau/Johnson/Marchenko to stop trying and/or halt their development.

The difference between Columbus and those teams is that Columbus is looking to go up where as those teams are either expected to be bad for multiple years still/are on the way down.
That usually shows in players effort level.

Columbus with a healthy roster would have never been anywhere close to this position and by ”miracle” ended up at #2 seed pre lottery.
That’s a franchise changer and not something to use against the management(bad at tanking)

Johnson has shown he has legit 1C upside and they are still ending up with a quaranteed top4 pick.
I’d say that’s a massive win for longterm view

Not sure how Priest has any blame?
Jd is in charge with Jarmo being the GM.

Only fault I have with Priesty (now) is letting Mr Mac bring back JD in the first place after he left for greener pastures and allowing Jarmo to still have a job.

Buit I can't blam anything on the ice on Prist. That falls on JD and Jarmo, who brick by brick will build us up to being wild card team.

Anybody behind any part of the decision to give Merzlikins the contract he got, should be fired.

With or without Korpisalo in the picture, and “dumped”/allowed to walk or not.

So much for that, “good thing the guys who get paid to make the decisions know what they’re doing”, defense regarding the debate between the 2 goalies, eh!?!

LITERALLY UNBELIEVABLE that an NHL front office would make the decisions they have made regarding the goalie position the last few years.

The Ducks and Hawks haven't told their coaches to lose games on purpose. That'd be reckless. As soon as Dallas Eakins fails to get another head coaching job after being fired by Anaheim for losing, he's going to go to the league and say "look at these emails/texts about what management made me do." Then the league would take away Anaheim's 1st round pick.

No, Anaheim and Chicago are where they are because of what both teams did leading up to this season - failing to acquire talent and depth. The Jackets meanwhile did acquire talent and depth, and are continuing to do so, because Jarmo is a decent GM.
