Quite the interview with Doug MacLean on NHL Radio this morning. Critical of how many rebuilds team has had, JD/Jarmo.. mentions ownership is very upset. Sees a 'disinterested team' that to him signals a big time change is needed and goes on to say that usually results in someone getting fired. Not exactly rocket science and who knows how much of it is based on actual fact but, came across in quite an interesting tone.. Wish I could link it.

If there's one thing Dougie knows, it's what a disinterested team looks like

Agreed. That was the impression I got as well.

On the flip side, I wonder if its just him wanting to be seen as still being 'plugged in'.

The fanbase-at some point-could abandon this franchise in large numbers. McConnell knows this. The man ably guided a large company for decades. To protect his investment, it is only prudent that he rids himself of the profoundly mediocre Jarmo and the disloyal snake-oil salesman JD and hire a competent President of Operations to turn this shit show around.

I was wondering when you'd get back to your Scout And Broadcaster gimmick...

Wouldn't it make more sense for the next guy to decide who to keep? Odds are that if you hire a dozen people, some of them will be good at their jobs.

We've also got an amateur scouting department that looks to have outperformed in recent years so I don't know why that would get wiped.

Maclean might have that knowledge but we all know he would also pretend to have heard those things even if he hadn't. There's no way to know the truth from him.

I played golf with Rimer in a golf outing the day the Denis-Modin trade went down. He was on the phone with Dougie 4 or 5 times to stay up to date. He's my bet.

I've always been a fan of Jarmo, from my perspective he's a great at drafting and understanding value when it comes to trades *usually, but there's been a lot of blunders lately.

- Giving Gudbranson 4 x 4 is horrific.
- Resigning Elvis to 5.4x5 is even worse.
- The coaching staff, including Legace, have not worked out.
- The extreme confidence in his unproven defensemen.

There hasn't been a lot of reason of late to believe he's got this ship going in the right other than his drafting ability.

I fear he also might panic trade for Horvat and sign him to 9+.
