From 2009-2015 Toews was one of the best centers and players on the planet. In a league with prime Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin. He 1C’d and Captained us to 3 Cup wins in 6 years.

He doesn’t have the stats or the longevity but he doesn’t need it.
Not to mention being a top player at the Olympics vs the very best in the world and his World Jr shootout performance.

Anyone see Lucas Carlsson rather quietly had a career year in the AHL putting up 54 pts in 61 games? Floridas been holding onto him, will be interesting to see where he goes from here. He’s only 25 I believe.

Will be interesting to see what Ottawa gets here and what extension Debrincat gets in Detroit (I assume it's safe bet he signs or Detroit wouldn't be trading for him)

We thought the trade for Cat was bad last year, this is going to be much worse. I guess Cat’s value just isn’t as high around the league as we thought.

Cat didn't get his big bag after his down year without Kane.

He should get another shot in four years but Detroit not exactly good.... 30 goals might be tough

Perron-Larkin-Debrincat

Pretty good 1st line there

+ 1st PP time

Debrincat should be good bet for 30-40 goals thru his time in Detroit IMO

+ He goes home and has another shot potentially at big contract in 4 years at age 29

So in my opinion Chicago won this trade…

1st Kevin Korchinski
2nd Paul Ludwinski
3rd in 2024

Is better than

Dominik Kubalik, Hawks let him walk
Donovan Sebrango
1st in 2024 or 2025, not as high as 7th
4th in 2024

Davidson won

Remember those Hawk fans complaining about the Debrincat trade last summer? Worked out pretty well for them.

My immediate thoughts I recall looking back in the Debrincat trade thread was, is there any extension talk though? Would still of liked more, like at least the 2nd they eventually got for the Zaitsev trade. Though no extension was clearly a dumb choice for Ottawa. They could still get a okay 1st depending how Boston does.

Terrible for Sens. Good for Wings.

Though I don't think they are contenders with him. Still lack big name talent up front; don't think a forward core of Cat, Raymond, and Larkin are enough to get far in the postseason. And they won't be bad enough for the foreseeable future to add that needed game breaker.

I wonder how many Canadian teams will be in the league 20 years from now. If guys don’t want to play in Alberta, Winnipeg, or Ottawa that puts them at a disadvantage.

Would’ve been a good trade for the Senators had Cat signed with them. Now it looks terrible. Happy Cat got a payday though and don’t mind at all that he’s a Red Wing now

Ottawa is the only team to worry about when it comes to support from fans. And that probably has to do more with their location than the players left on their team.
