Imagine paying Kampf 2.5mi/yr
hes a 4th line center IMOThe market is basically this now, to be honest. $2.5M for a third-line centre that is pretty versatile on the ice makes sense. Don't get me wrong, Kampf isn't amazing but they obviously like him and he can be effective.
3rd line Cs have offense to their game. He plays 3rd line mins, but he isn't a 3rd line C.The market is basically this now, to be honest. $2.5M for a third-line centre that is pretty versatile on the ice makes sense. He's a real good fourth liner. He's a luxury a team counting cap dollars like Toronto shouldn't prioritize.I think the Kampf deal is fine. He’s a good bottom 6 player and $2.5 is nothing.

Kruger was different because that contract was thank you from 1 year contract he made before. We all know Kampf is a good shut down center but you can't be paying a 4th liner 2.4 mil.
This reminds me of the Kruger contract. He was a very good player but not worth 3+ mil a season. (and that was with a lesser cap)
I know good 4th liners want all the money they can get but a contender can't afford to be paying that. We found out the hard way. Leafs will too.
He's a good 4th liner, a terrible 3rd liner. You don't pay 4th liners 2.5mil, that's where you get into trouble.I think the Kampf deal is fine. He’s a good bottom 6 player and $2.5 is nothing.
Yeah, obviously if it was a team like us, or ARZ, ANA, it would be different. But a team that wants to contend and is needing every dollar available to them, it's a pretty bad signing IMO. They are basically saying they are keeping the band together.Especially a team like the Leafs who are scrambling around for every $$
Mitchell and Regula were qualified
Kind of feeling bad for Cat. Seems like nobody wants him at this point, and he may have to take a haircut on what he thought he was originally going to get on a contract.
We should start a David Poile Appreciation Theead. Last Wednesday, I learned that he invented hockey.
Was a beauty. Wish he was still here. He’d be perfect for the team identity they are trying to build but hey 2 late rounds picks that likely amount to nothing are worth it.
