I think Kampf was better than any of our current 4th liners. He was Krueger's replacement wasn't he (but not as effective obviously)?

I might be wrong on this, but didn't we used to be able to deploy our 4th line (w/ Kampf) against teams' top lines, which freed up our top 3 lines. Which line is our main "shutdown" line now? Dach's line?

Not saying Kampf single-handedly makes this team significantly better, but the Hawks have always had success with 4th lines like that. Now they don't have one and they stink. Certainly not the sole reason, but it plays a part in their lack of success in my opinion.

This is what happens when people follow a really really bad team. They long for a former bad player that was part of a bad team.

2020-21 Blackhawks PK 76.8% League position = #28 (With David Kamp)
2021-22 Blackhawks PK 75.2% League position = #28 (Without David Kamp)

I cannot recall any shedding of tears on this site when Kamp went to Toronto. Decent skater, good on face-offs with absolutely terrible hands. Nothing more than a below replacement level forward.
There were plenty people mad right away he was not tenured as an RFA before his singing in Toronto.

A shutdown no offensive player I guess is hard to see as clearly as valuable when a team is bad vs when a team is good. But he was still good.

Like.. think better than that. 1 player, even if played the most on PK doesn't determine a PK. There's individual pk stats, like Ga/60 or deeper stats. Kampf out there was always better and even 5on5 no matter who was on the 4th line with him, was a line eating top line minutes and had solid possession turning the ice most times.

It's a bit of both. Let's not pretend like he was anything like a Kruger-level 4C. He was a good 4th liner we let walk for some reason. The team wouldn't be remarkably better with him but the Hawks aren't in a position to be letting decent defensive players leave the roster when we're replacing them with Borgstrom and Entwistle

The issue is he certainly was worth a 4th round pick or something like it in trade to the Leafs instead of walking free.

His presence or departure doesn't change much for the Hawks. I don't think missing out on drafting another C-level prospect is spilled milk worth crying over

Boqvist sat last night with an UBI. Anyone know what it is?

He is on pace for 15 goals this year. Not surprising.

scoring at a 20% clip on the same point pace as last year with us and injured. meh. Hope next year he can really take off but i think he is just going to be a offensive #4.

I hope to God our rebuild isnt anything like Buffalo's picking top 12 since 2012. Redwings have picked top 10 since 2017.
Funny you should say that. The young and inexperienced Sabres don't look half bad these days... they beat Leafs on their own ice tonight. I'd take their current roster over Hawks roster without hesitation.

Only 1 point for Hagel in 6 games so far. I know it’s a new team so it’ll take a bit to get acclimated, but I definitely expected more from him, even if he is on the third line.
