I think it was only one game that Boqvist was a healthy scratch. Seems some folks are cheering for him to fail.
That's nice. Do you think, at any point of his career, he'll be a #1, franchise defenseman?Boqvist 2G tonight, 6 on the season...

Because if you do, I have a bridge I want to sell you.

just nice to see Adam having success, that is after all what this thread is all about.
Sorry, not even close. Elite two way dmen are a little hard to scare up. And the Hawks didn't have one before the trade. And they had none with the potential to be one.I'm not a Bodqvist fan but I will take him over Seth Jones and his 9.5 million a year for forever.
Idk your standard but I think he'll have a OEL like ceiling and if you think he was a legit #1 in his prime Zona days Boqvist will beThat's nice. Do you think, at any point of his career, he'll be a #1, franchise defenseman?

Jones has 3 goals 19 assists 22 points so far this year, in 24 games…6 points more than any Hawk all of last year(Boqvist by the way)…Blackhawks record for assists by a defenceman in a single season is 58(Chelios twice)…Jones is on pace for 10 goals 65 assists 75 points on a presently ‘struggling’ offensive team…Keith only reached 61 and 69 points for his best, Chelios had seasons of 72 and 73 points…Jones is defiantly eliteSorry, not even close. Lol. Bodqvist over Jones, huh?
This forum sucks.
Bean also has 3 goals. Sillinger has 5. Bowman rebuilt the wrong team.
Agreed. Not to mention that Dach had developed some bad habits due to the fact that he could get away with them in the WHL. Unless the coaches were astute enough to see that Dach would have kept playing that same style.AHL is much better talent than the WHL. Dach physically dominates the WHL the next year. You gain very little from that. AHL would have been perfect. I would have sent him down to the WHL. Again, I was not defending the choices they made.

It's not a "dumb rule". Its intent is to prevent the NHL from raiding the CHL of its top talent. Without that rule, top CHL talent would spend one less year being marketed by the league. Which would, in turn, hurt the financial health of the league.Agreed. Not to mention that Dach had developed some bad habits due to the fact that he could get away with them in the WHL. If he was AHL eligible, he would have quickly learned that what worked in Junior wouldn't necessarily work at the Pro level ... instead he had to learn the hard way in the NHL... and all because of a dumb rule.
Thank you for your wisdom. I'm well aware of the intent.... doesn't help a player like Dach though who has clearly outgrown Jr hockey but is too green to be thrust into the NHL.It's not a "dumb rule". It's a pretty good idea to preserve the financial health of the league that provides the NHL with the largest percentage of its talent.

Yes, there should be the occasional exception to eligibility rules. Like back in the day when fourteen-year-old Bobby Orr signed a contract to play Junior A comes to mind ... when most players his age were playing Major Bantam.Overall, I agree with the rule but each team should have 1-2 exceptions to use.
I would redo the rule. I would grant each team 2 exceptions every 2 years. When you use an exception, it does not renew for two years, and you must use it by day 1 of the NHL season. If used, you cannot get it back if send the player back (which you must do within the first 3 weeks of the AHL season). CHL should also be compensated for losing a top player.
Given real, sufficient compensation, I could see a limited exception system. Keeping the CHL healthy and viable has to be a top priority when it comes to rules on drafted players.Overall, I agree with the rule but each team should have 1-2 exceptions to use.
