I think it was Greg Wyshynski on NHL radio this afternoon who basically said that if the Draft Lottery is rigged, Connor Bedard would be heading to ARI today and not Chicago. He said, if there was one team above all that needed a player like Bedard, it was the Coyotes. To me, right there (Greg's point), shuts down all of these "Draft lottery" conspiracy nonsense.

What was on TV Monday Night was NOT the draft lottery, is was the RESULTS of the draft lottery. The Lottery happen in front of what 20 people(?). Stephen Whyno of the Assoicated Press has a pretty detail account of what happen, if you are interested. All the Kevin Weekes slip up proved is maybe he was one of the people who witness the lottery as it happened.

At best, these theorists have weak circumstanial evidence that the lottery is rigged. Occam's Razor: these people are Salty AF and royally butthurt that not only their team did not get this franchise changing prospect but the Blackhawks did. If that makes the Blackhawks a villain, then so be it.

The Athletic has an account of the draft lottery as well.

It would be too difficult to not only rig the draft, but keep it a secret as well. Especially in this day and age, I'm not sure how people think it would even work.

The simple fact of the matter is that you could make a conspiracy argument for almost any team winning the draft lottery.

Oh, a big market won? Clearly Gary wanting to make money.

A non-traditional market won? Gary wants to keep propping up his vanity project.

A market that has been bad for a long time won? Gary just wants a boost in fan interest to prevent the team from dying.

Etc., etc.

You could do this for basically every market except the Canadian prairie teams, because why rig for small markets that always have fans showing up and whoops, we forgot to rig multiple firsts overall, including a generational player, away from Edmonton. Whoopsies!

I saw this point made already but it should said again, if the Hawks were to have their first taken away, it should have been 2022 and not 2023. So this idea that Bettman should have taken the 2023 first from Hawks is stupid.

Canucks are full on huffing copium in saying how Bedard is going to be a Canuck in 7 years time lol.

That’ll be after they waste Hughes and Petterson’s entire careers. Also Bedard is definitely signing for 8 years after his entry level deal.

I hope we win again next year but jump up like 10 spots. Reading the salt from other fan bases has consumed me for the last week and I’m loving it. Can’t imagine what it would be like if we went back to back.
ban the possibility of winning back to back for sure

Vancouver and Detroit fans would be on suicide watch especially if they both are bottom 3 next year

Doubt either will be bottom 3. My guess is Flyers (Think they will sell this summer and at the deadline), Sharks, and Arizona in no order.

I understand people being pissed about us winning because of the Kyle Beach assault or the fact we literally just parted with a former 1st overall a couple of months ago.

I don't understand how people can be dumb enough to believe the draft was rigged.

Sure you do. Look at the last few years of world events and politics. We are an incredibly stupid species who is more or less devolving, at this point.

Apparently somewhere along the way being stupid became an acceptable excuse to get by...
I think people have always been this stupid but they just weren't able to congregate in large masses to share their harebrained ideas with one another until social media became a thing. Blame Zuckerberg.
