The issue is there’s nothing about the logo that makes it obvious which tribe it’s representing. It’s just a generic native american face/caricature. So it’s not only the one tribe affected or whose feelings need to be considered.

In any case, it will get changed eventually. Not a matter of if but when. Having the discussion now of all times does seem silly tho.

(CBS/AP) LOS ANGELES - Jay Mariotti, a former ESPN sports personality, has pleaded no contest in Los Angeles to charges that he stalked and assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

Deputy District Attorney Simone Shay says Mariotti entered open pleas Tuesday on three felony charges, which included stalking and two misdemeanors.

The former Chicago Sun-Times columnist was immediately sentenced to five years of probation and 90 days of community service.

Shay says an open plea means prosecutors did not offer Mariotti a plea deal.

He eventually found his way back to ESPN but they quickly pointed out it was for "Freelance work" thru another company. A BS way of ESPN hiring him without "Hiring Him"

Then he was hired by a major newspaper despite his arrest/plea

Spent about a year as sports columnist/director with San Fransisco Examiner before they ended up parting ways with him.

Last I saw he was popping up occasionally on other ESPN talking head sports podcasts every now and then.

I mean the Blackhawks are clearly representing their namesake. They aren’t representing a generic name. They aren’t the Chicago Native Americans.

You know native Americans are active living people not some historical group. And while so are the Irish, but who are the main creators and audience of those teams, people of Irish heritage. Thats not the case with Native American symbol teams.

do we rename cities and street names next? if anything its honoring these groups minus one particular team that did change the name but in general there is no ill intent with these teams, world will have far bigger problems than sports team names in next 5-10 years, that seems for sure

The hate on her is legendary and continues, she has more posts on The Chicago Fanatics Message board covering all Chicago teams and local hosts than almost any topic and she has been off the air for years. It is almost 1,500 pages to date. It is comical the level people go to follow her legendary ineptitude

Newborn daughter and the child him and his wife lost in 2021.

Laz is a piece of garbage. Everyone knew he would take this moment and make it all about him and not Bedard. It's what he does.

He retweets popular tweets so his page looks bigger then it is, alot of his followers are bots(Twitter just made it easier to identify bots and AI followers), and if you don't agree with his agendas he blocks you. Powers is the same thing but Powers won't say anything that could compromise his press credentals.

Laz also bragged about his checkmark. Now that he don't have one he don't bring up how only important people have checkmarks.

the casual chicago fan knew way more about this kid and what the tank meant than i initially realized, especially given how little coverage hockey prospects get relative to other leagues
