someone notably mentioned that they were genuinely shocked how many teams and execs around the league believed the draft lottery was rigged, might've been seravelli on the hawks podcast released yesterday

This might have already been said but...

Is it correct that CBJ from the Seth Jones trade had the choice of either our 2022 1st or our 2023 1st? I honestly forget all the details. Or did we have the option of what pick to give?

If true they chose Jiricek over Bedard.

The 2022 pick was lottery protected. If the Blackhawks won the lottery last year, they would have had to give up this year's pick.

Drafting Nemec instead of Bedard would be insane

People using this as a conspiracy is so dumb.

Because they effed up on the TV broadcast, that means the draft was rigged? Makes no sense.
The funniest thing to me is: if you honestly believe the lottery is rigged and the league can cover-up something on that grand of a scale then they're obviously also rigging games and series too.

And if you think they're rigging games then why TF are you even watching? You have to be the biggest sucker on the planet.

Yikes! That one still hurts. I had mixed emotions then because I value getting a #1 d-man and although Jones isn't a top-10 #1 d-man - he's still a #1 d-man who will look more like a true #1 d-man when he has a true #2 d-man and a true #1 goalie to play with.

But still - giving up (2) 1st's, a 2nd and a first round prospect is a haul too far for my liking.

We have Connor Bedard.

I wouldn't change anything regarding past roster decisions, even the braindead trades and draft selections.

Amen brother.

If you think this outrage is bad just wait until next year when the Hawks win back to back lotteries.
I said it earlier but getting Cellibrini next year (another Vancouver kid) might just push some Canuck fans over the edge. Riot 2: electric boogaloo

I think it was Greg Wyshynski on NHL radio this afternoon who basically said that if the Draft Lottery is rigged, Connor Bedard would be heading to ARI today and not Chicago. He said, if there was one team above all that needed a player like Bedard, it was the Coyotes. To me, right there (Greg's point), shuts down all of these "Draft lottery" conspiracy nonsense.

What was on TV Monday Night was NOT the draft lottery, is was the RESULTS of the draft lottery. The Lottery happen in front of what 20 people(?). Stephen Whyno of the Assoicated Press has a pretty detail account of what happen, if you are interested. All the Kevin Weekes slip up proved is maybe he was one of the people who witness the lottery as it happened.

At best, these theorists have weak circumstanial evidence that the lottery is rigged. Occam's Razor: these people are Salty AF and royally butthurt that not only their team did not get this franchise changing prospect but the Blackhawks did. If that makes the Blackhawks a villain, then so be it.
