Well, survived that one although not ideal. Wilson gets to watch instead of practice and prepare for his biggest season of his life all because he felt he had to earn extra yards instead of take what he got and play another down. Love the effort and determination and it’s all part of the maturity process. He is lucky for now.
The o-line issue is glaring though, so Wilson will be thrown to the wolves vs AFC central defenses without much more development preparation. Hope he will be ready and excels. I have my doubts but at least he will be playing.
It'll be interesting to see how the offense fairs without him. If they're decent, and he comes back and sh!ts the bed, then we know the curse is real.

Did Mims play his way into the line up today?
It’s preseason so I wouldn’t read too much into it. I think he’s too far into the doghouse and there are too many quality receivers above him in the pecking order.

Barring any injuries to other Jets’ receivers, the only thing this does is increase his trade value. Maybe the Cowboys?

Wonder what they can get for Mims. A second rounder?
Wish they could find a quality offensive lineman.

He was a disappointment on bad football teams. A good strategy just might be to wait and see who is desperate for a WR come week1 or week 2 due to injury or poor performance.
Calculated risk but I like it.

I don’t follow the Cowboys but I recall that their receiver corps has been decimated by injuries. One would think they’re a good trading partner.

He was a second round pick and has been a disappointment.

Getting a third round pick for him would be good value.
In case you were wondering, the Jets couldn’t even get a 4th round pick for Mims.

So early view of the Jets o-line is fragile at best
Every start of a season is a an opportunity to be different and better than the previous season. Unfortunately it is hard for me to imagine this Jets team with their schedule (see weeks 3-10) winning more than 6 games this season. You build from the line out and with all their opportunity to improve and cap space, again I see problems on the offensive line.

The way I see it that first game is critical to avoid a 2-8 or 3-7 start which are the most likely scenarios IMO.
unfortunately, early returns seem to be heading this direction. Critical week 2 ahead. How soon ‘til Joe (Douglas) must go if they lose to the Browns Sunday.

My annual unwarranted optimism regarding the Jets season has vanished as it always does on the Monday after their season opener. (Although truth be told, I expected very little in game #1 this year given their injuries.)

Brutal game from the Jets. Yes, Flacco is the QB, but I expect much more from this coaching staff. So many mind-boggling decisions like the lack of tight end targets, lack of Garrett Wilson usage and just the incompetence of special teams. Sunday in Cleveland is an organizational must-win or Jets fans will be clamoring for Sean Payton and Will Anderson.

When your season sucks and you’re in the lottery then you need to lose… hard stop. My head explodes when I hear about character building end of season wins for lousy teams.

Zach Wilson vs Trevor Lawrence? I know the jury is still out but if past Jets performance means anything, I can’t help but be disappointed. The Jets had an opportunity to lose their remaining games leading up to that draft after a 0-13 start and then they won 2 of their last 3 games.

If you’re a Knicks fan, how did it work out when they won a few meaningless games in the season leading up to the 2019 draft?
RJ Barrett vs Ja Morant.

I watched Browns vs Panthers. They freaking suck aside from Nick Chubb and the FG kicker. This game may end in a 0-0 tie

The worst thing is he said he thinks the guy will make the FG, AND that he would make the same decision again!

Wow, I didn't see that. Was that right after the game or from Monday?

Because it looks like he is maybe backtracking on that now.

Saw a couple Tweets around 5:30 pm, where he (now) says they should have gone for it.

Just listened to a bit of his press conference, and he sounds like a guy with limited imagination and who has been promoted beyond his ability.

Hopefully it was a one-time gaffe and he can learn from it, but I have not necessarily been wowed by his demeanor.

Hackett’s father was the Jets’ Offensive Coordinator a while back. That may be your answer.

His prior coaching tenure/experience isn't exactly inspiring either. Seems like a guy who has just been shuffled along and turns in mediocre results, at least without the help of top talent (like with the Packers).

I read it in NY Post online this morning. Pretty sure it was right after game but not 100 percent sure

What is the point of playing Flacco? The best he’ll do is 5-12. I’d rather see what white and wilson can do. If they do worse then we’ll know what we have for future. Not like we’re making the playoffs
