Japan is known for their stuffed croissant.

Hazukido is a Taiwanese bakery, but their croissant are japanese style.

As are chicken hearts and hundreds of other food items that I'm probably not aware of or like,it happens. Can tell you this though, all the time spent withing their society, not once has anyone anywhere tell me I have to try the croissants, you know what they always insist on trying?yup! those damn chicken hearts:pullhair:

The cheesecake is great! They got a lot of good food, but some that sucks too. Too much red bean as part of dessert, not for me thanks!

I was going to say that. The red bean is strong in them, they even have red bean ice cream at this store.
I love to shop there even though some things are really expensive. They ar4e so thorough. The cashier wiping of
the area after each person checking out. Their produce is also amazing. I can get fresh horse radish (the root itself),
dill bundles and not the tiny little dill things other grocery stores. They have so many different sauces, a whole section.

Live crabs, lobsters, fish, mussels and oysters.

Ya,red bean and green tea don't scream dessert for me. Was it that thorough before all this pandemic stuff? Always they seem pretty particular keeping tidy anywhere, they often pick up other people trash when just walking around. Have you ever tried the curry pods? delicious. Super at fish and oddly the huge market in Tokyo is kind of a tourist attraction, spotless and not fishy smelling.

Sounds like a truly authentic Japanese culinary treat, not. All the time I've spent there and the territories, never had one let alone seen one,but not exactly seeking them out either.

Don't care about authenticity to be honest, though getting top notch ingredients and making their twist on otherwise foreign classics seems very Japanese to me for some reason.

Issue is that even if they are tasty, I can go to La Cave à Manger in the old port for bigger and tastier croissants at the same price.

As long as it's good I could care less about all the bastardized fusion going on these days. Just not a fan of ''marketing'' to draw people in under the guise of something that it is really not,if you know what I mean.

... Whatever you do :

#1 Don't try Smoking Ribs (or just, you know, stuff) in the oven.
#2 If you fail #1, make sure to use something like Maple or Apple Wood and not Hickory

A little smokey? soaked the wood prior? Need a decent fume hood and vent the cooking area otherwise best to do outdoors imo.

All that talk about Japan I went out to the Japanese grocery store and bought Canadian shrimps. Then I looked at their bakery stuff. I saw some croissants but I don't know if they are the same. I also saw something called soft cheesecake. It looked similar to a flat poundcake. I always buy candy and soda. Their Ramune soda tastes just like a Swedish soft drink that I drank as a kid. I also got a raspberry Panna Cotta.

I was expecting a Japanese themed post after your first 5 words and instead of that, it was an international festivus that included Canadian, French, Swedish and Italian references. My brain is hurting.

Edit: I stand corrected on the Japanese soft cheesecake

Made some 2 litre rose wine lobster bisque while my friends wife made her ''world famous'' risotto. Just don't get the appeal of risotto even if it is considered good, just not a fan.

Worst thing you can have at a restaurant, apparently. I think it has to do with how long they typically let it sit there once it’s prepped.

Jiggly cheesecake is definitely Japanese.
